A new idea for magnetic drawing boards
Our grandchildren have long enjoyed the magnetic drawing boards where you "draw" with the magnetic pen then erase and start again. This toy is different - there is a board with 49 indentations arranged 7 x 7 protected by a plastic "glass" front. Behind the screen there are 49 smartie sized coloured counters plus 3 spares. Using a small pen with a magnetic end you lift a counter, slide it across and drop it in the indentation of your choice. You can make up your own pattern or copy one of the 14 pattern cards provided. When finished, simply tip up the boards and all the counters will fall to the bottom of the screen. The good things are that the toy is safe as the small counters cannot fall out. It takes some skill to lift, slide and drop the counter in the right place and to copy a pattern. It is quick to clear the board by tipping it at an angle. There is no mess and the board is lightweight in a cute Duck design. The downsides are that the magnetic pen could get lost as it fits in a carrying slot but is not attached. If you accidentally tilt the board your pattern will be finished so it is not suitable for using in the car etc, you need a flat surface. If you put a counter in the wrong place it is tricky to get it out again with the magnetic pen. The plastic surface can be cleaned (a thin specs cleaning cloth is enclosed) but it scratches easily. We have the Medium sized board, the Large one would allow for more variety of patterns so I recommend that size. It is something different and may entertain children 3 to 5 for quite a while .

A fun game
The media could not be loaded. The toddler is too young for following the patterns yet but he does like to move the counters with the magnet. I gave this to him as a second birthday gift and I think it’ll grow with him as he develops. It would be great to give as a gift for a 2 year olds birthday

Good
The advantages of the toy include its safety feature, preventing small counters from falling out. It also requires skill to manipulate the counters, enhancing hand-eye coordination and pattern replication. Clearing the board is a breeze by tilting it at an angle, and the lightweight board is adorned with an adorable Duck design, adding to its appeal. On the flip side, there are a few drawbacks. The magnetic pen, while conveniently fitting in a carrying slot, is not attached, making it susceptible to getting lost. Accidentally tilting the board will disrupt the pattern being created, making it unsuitable for use in moving vehicles like cars, requiring a flat surface for optimal use. If a counter is mistakenly placed, retrieving it using the magnetic pen can be challenging. Additionally, the plastic surface is prone to scratches, although a thin specs cleaning cloth is provided for cleaning purposes.Overall i would recommend it for young children.
