Excellent in every way
Back Story:I am a regular user of bluetooth streaming, almost every night I turn down the TV sound so as not to disturb the others. I use my bose wireless headphones to watch various shows. Initially I started out using a very cheap bluetooth transmitter from Radio Shack. It worked decent enough for a while, but then the problems started when my neighbors installed some bluetooth speakers in their garage. Their speaker always happen to stay in discoverable mode when not in use. This posed a real problem because my old transmitter had minimal controls and would pick up any and all discoverable speakers within range and pair with them and start to stream audio to them. I struggled with it a lot but to no avail. It caused a lot of unwanted disturbance to my neighbor and eventually they were very nice about it and the would unplug their speakers every night. For me, this was quite embarrassing.I tried other bluetooth devices I got from Fry's Electronics, but they also had the same problems. This got me quite frustrated and I went online to find the transmitter with the best ratings. Trond BT duo came up near the top.Main Review:I ordered the device from amazon. Packaging was easy to open, no frills cardboard box. Instruction manual was decent. It came with all the accessories needed to attach it to any audio source. It solved my neighbor problem in a big way because it has a dedicated button for pairing with a secondary speaker. It will pair with more speakers if and only if I instruct it to do so. As long as I stay away from this button, there's no chance of disturbance to others. It has the 3.5mm audio jack, but in addition, it also has the digital optical input, which meant I could stream way better quality sound than before. There's a dedicated physical switch for putting the device in TX or RX mode which is very pleasant. Also there's a micro-USB port for charging the battery in the device. I always keep it plugged in to USB and it sits inside my TV cabinet and never runs out or needs charging.Performance:The first thing I was amazed by is the superb sound quality, full stereo hi-fi sound. My bose headphones were capable of so much better sound and were not being used to their fullest potential until I started streaming audio through the Trond BT duo.Other noticeable performance aspects were that there was no lag (none that I could notice), between the picture on my TV and the audio that was streaming through my headphone. It was perfectly synced. I've noticed considerable lag with other streaming devices (it gets really disorienting), but no such issue with this device. The range of bluetooth radio was also way better than before. I could go quite far, even go upstairs and still not notice any static or drop in sound quality.Recently I ran into an issue where device became un-responsive and wouldn't pair and stream properly. I tried various troubleshooting steps, but nothing worked. So I sent an email to their customer support. I provided my Amazon order number (in case they try to hassle me about these things), and a brief description of the problem.I sent the note out at my 11 pm, not expecting a response until the following day or maybe several days out. They responded within 15 minutes; told me there was a hard-shutdown button I can press with a metal pin. They even provided a picture, where to find the button. I was really amazed with the level of customer care. The guy who helped me, his name was Bruce, was courteous in all his communications.Nowadays customer support for most companies have made an art out of trying to get out of helping customers, putting them through hurdles, wasting their time. With Trond I found the exact opposite, which was quite refreshing. In summary:Pros:- Excellent sound quality- Excellent range- No lag- Dedicated button for pairing additional speakers/headphones- Good battery life- Space-saving design and muted black color- Excellent customer supportCons:- None that I could think of.

Excellent transmitter for watching TV
I bought this transmitter and a TROND Wireless Bluetooth V4.2 Over-Ear Headphones for watching TV in privacy so I don't disturb others. Over the years I have owned many different headsets for TV. The combination of this TROND BT-DUO II transmitter and the Trond headset are by far the best setup yet.I really like the compact size. It almost disappears when I place it on the TV base. Have a look at the pictures. The empty space in the cabinet in the first picture is where my old headset and base were located. The TROND transmitter is sitting on the black base of the TV. Can’t see it? Look at the third picture. That tiny box is the transmitter.Pros:- The compact size allows me to place it on the base of my TV and nobody notices it. Other combos with headset hangers make that impossible without obstructing the TV and actually trying to find a place to put those older combinations was always a problem since I needed to connect to the audio from the TV. I actually had to make a spot to hold my old headset in the entertainment cabinet I built (see the empty spot in the picture.- The option of using either a 3.5mm Aux Cable or TOSLINK cable is great. I have both outputs on my TV but for some reason I find the TOSLINK provides better sound clarity. I ended up using the TOSLINK. One thing to note is that this TROND transmitter does not process Dolby Digital surround so you need to make sure that the TOSLINK output from your TV is set for PCM.- The signal is nice and strong and allows me to get up and move around (like going to the kitchen or to the garage to get a beverage) during commercials without having the sound in the headset ‘fuzz out’.- I have yet to have the transmitter lose sync with the headset. This was something that happened regularly (at least once a day) with my last TV headset combo that was not a TROND.- It does a great job with the low latency codec as the speech syncs up perfectly with the picture on the TV. This tended to be an issue with my last headset combo that intermittently tended to get some weird lag making me fiddle with re-syncing the base and the headset. That older headset and base combo was not TROND.Cons:- There is a blue LED on the transmitter that flashes all the time even when the headset is turned off and there is no signal being sent to the transmitter from the TV. This is not distracting until you turn off all the lights like when you are going to bed. It is something I can put up with since I have so many other LEDs on other bits of equipment that are also on.- The transmitter interferes with my wireless range extender 5 Ghz signal if I place the transmitter too close to the extender. I originally had the transmitter on the left side of the TV right next to the wireless extender (the device in the picture with all the green LEDS and one yellow LED). I then moved the TROND transmitter over to the right side of my TV and it no longer interferes. So for anyone looking for a TV audio transmitter and headset combo, be careful as not all are created equal or are as good as this Trond combo I bought.I also wrote a review for the TROND Headset since I bought these as a pair. All in all I would recommend this transmitter and headset combo if you are looking for a TV headset.

Really sensible piece of kit initially !
After a great deal of research into various options I finally settled on this one, not without some misgivings. My worries were unfounded.Neatly packed, everything present. Really clear instruction leaflet solely in good English - Yay !Promises of 30 day money-back offer and 18 months warranty. We have a typical problem with TV listening where my hearing is well inferior to my wife's.Our old Samsung TV has no Bluetooth and I wanted to use my AKG Y50BT headphones. The existing Yamaha sound-bar is connected to the 'optical out' socket on the TV and does not mute the audio. It also has it's own remote for volume and mute etc. This means that simultaneously connecting headphones via the 3.5mm audio-out socket on the TV automatically mutes the TV speakers, but allows the headphone volume can be controlled independently via the TV remote.Voila !I plugged the Trond into the audio-out socket on the TV, carefully paired the AKG headphones, and RESULT. Pairing was quick and simple, worked perfectly. So, In ear sound for me, and the soundbar acoustically for my wife, independently controlled. Very good quality sound in the headphones and undetectable lag (latency). The audio lead with 3.5mm plugs both ends is a really helpful 1 metre or so long, permitting the Trond to be placed with a clear aim to the listeners. Range was fantastic, right through the wall and into the kitchen (so now it's me has to make the coffees). I am using battery power alone and charging independently from a usb socket in another room when required. Not checked duration yet, nor yet added a second pair of headphones.Added Comment on January 16th 2020. Sadly the Trond started to misbehave recently and has now given up altogether despite my best efforts.Trond have now kindly promised me a replacement under warranty. We shall see (and report further).Added 22nd January 2020:Replacement arrived quickly. Worked well initially but problems again when re-pairing with Cambridge Audio earbuds after their use with a tablet. Trond were extremely helpful and attentive in attempting to resolve the problem. When it worked (eg with the AKG headphones) it was really good, just not with re-pairing with my Earbuds. I have given up now and purchased a different brand which seems fine.

A perfect solution for linking my digital music to my old hi fi.
TROND Bluetooth Transmitter and Receiver for TV iPod PC, Dual Link AptX Low Latency, 500mAh Large Battery, Digital Optical TOSLINK and 3.5mm Aux, Specially Designed for TWO Wireless HeadphonesIn the box.The Bluetooth unit, phono to jack adapter, USB micro to USB 1 (charge lead), Jack to jack lead, male to male jack adapter Tosh link optical cable and instructions.Power.It can be powered from the internal rechargeable battery or via a USB power source. How it works. This unit can take an audio output signal and turn into a wireless Bluetooth signal. It can also receive Bluetooth signal and via one of the cables link to a system that has no Bluetooth.Applications.I have two applications for this. One is to take my TV signal to my Bluetooth headphones which give me better quality sound than the built-in speaker. Also a headphone cable would need to be very long and largely impractical to implement. Secondly it can take the music via Bluetooth from my phone and tablet and using the supplied cables link it into my hi fi system so that I can play my music downloads over my speakers. My hi fi is very good quality but Bluetooth was not around when was designed.Set up.It can be a bit fiddley to get it right but the instructions are quite easy to understand and follow. After about half an hour with the system I managed to connect it to my hi fi and Bluetooth my music from my table to it. I also quickly got my TV sound onto my Bluetooth headphones – just don’t forget to change the mode switch on the side from TX to RX (I did not the first time and wondered why I had no sound! – it does help to read the instructions!Overall.A nice little gadget that serves a really useful purpose. Have my downloaded music playing on my hi fi is great and the quality is not bad. It is not as good as a CD but quite close. I am very pleased with the results and having an internal; battery means you don’t need a lumpy power supply. This is a neat solution.

Exactly what I was looking for
Absolutely love this great little device - I can't believe how great the sound quality is!!!!!I'm a complete technophobe but even I found it incredibly easy to setup (instructions are included) and to sync via Bluetooth to both my iPhone and iPad :) We have a fantastic stereo system; however, it isn't Bluetooth enabled so this is where this receiver comes into its own :) :) :) It required very little initial charging (via the included USB cable) and the charge lasted for ages. It has a pretty good Bluetooth range on it too so you don't feel tethered to the device - I stood at the end of my garden with my iPhone, and the sound quality from inside my house was superb!!It's a great little size so can be taken anywhere :) :) Great value for the money and highly recommended!! Many thanks xx

Not too good
Wanted a good Bluetooth transmitter/receiver, and after reading many reviews decided on this trond device. I wanted to use it on my hifi which worked well with my smart phone as long as I stayed within ten foot and kept the phone pointed at the hifi. I also tried my laptop within ten feet which worked after a while but kept dropping out, same with my wired headphones paired ok but as soon as I moved dropped out. So I decided to return them which Amazon made very easy to do and have not purchased another T/R unit as of yet. UPDATE...Have been using a replacement DUO II unit now for 3 weeks and so far has been much, much better and am very happy to keep on using it on my hi-fi. The music I can now play from my laptop & phone is predominantly mp3's, but sound very good played through the DUO II & my Nad amp & Eltax floorstanders. Bluetooth headphones work well too, so am now well pleased that I have the Trond unit on my system.

Good product - OUTSTANDING after sales service
I bought this to pair with the Trond TD-BH01 headphones which I wanted to connect to my LG TV. Both pieces of kit are good and tested perfectly with other devices but not my LG TV. I had a series of email messages via Amazon with the Trond people (Bruce in particular - thank you Bruce) who took real personal interest in the issue and responded very quickly to my requests with positive and friendly messages. Unfortunately we failed to set the connection up with my LG TV. Trond (Bruce - thank you Bruce!) offered immediately to refund my money on the transmitter (which they have done) WITHOUT ME EVEN HAVING TO SEND IT BACK! Because the headphones are very good, I have kept them - which is some reward for all the after sales service I received. The items are well packaged, and the instructions for use are second to none - clear, well thought out, and friendly in tone. This company takes pride in producing good products and backing them up with excellent and accessible service.
