This Elite Gourmet single burner hot plate works perfectly and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It heats up quickly, has great temperature control, and is very easy to use. I find it ideal for small kitchens, dorm rooms, RVs, or as an extra burner when cooking for a group. The build feels sturdy, the indicator light is helpful, and cleaning is effortless after use. It works well with different types of cookware and maintains consistent heat without any issues. Overall, this is a dependable and affordable hot plate that delivers great performance. I highly recommend it for anyone needing a compact and efficient cooking solution.

Hotplate
Great little hot plate. It works good, but does get hot and needs cool off after using it.

Heat is either on or off - no range of adjustment
This is a great little one burner hot plate. It is value priced and works well. The only reason I give this four stars instead of five is how the temperature setting works. There is not actually a low to high heat setting, but rather the knob adjusts how frequently the heating element turns on. For low settings it turns on less frequently than for high settings. This is a simple and inexpensive way to adjust heat, but it may affect cooking some things if a very low temperature is desired. It is great for boiling water and simmering a pot, but the temperature will go up and down if you want a very low temperature due to the element coming on and off. Not a big deal, but just be aware of it. Also, if you run it at the highest setting for a long while you may burn out the thermal overload sensor. These elements are common in electrically heated appliances like coffee pots and hot plates. If you do burn out the thermal overload sensor, then the hot plate won’t work until you replace it. You would need some basic skills with a soldering iron or wire crimpers and you need a new sensor, which is a type of thermal fuse and which is readily available. You probably won’t have this issue, but I did after I heated a large pot of water for a long time and I had to replace the thermal sensor. Overall, it is a good little economical hot plate.

Good electric cooker
This is awesome...only that when it hits a certain heat level it shuts down for a bit, then comes back on. So I just turn up the nob a little at a time to adjust and it does make some poping sounds but that's just the heat expanding

Super hot…for awhile
FINAL UPDATE: Dec. 2024: This burner is dangerous! I was heating up a pot full of water and looked over and the burning was glowing bright yellow. I thought it was open flame at first. When I went over, I saw the entire burner was still black as if it was cold except for a 2 inch section at the start of the coil. That section had heated up to white hot! I unplugged the burner, let it cool, and threw it in the trash. After it had cooled, I noticed that section of the burner had warped as if beginning to melt. I’ve never seen an electric element do that before. AVOID this burner! UPDATE: April 2024: We’ll, we bought this burner in January. The thermostat is already failing. As you’ll see in my original review below, this thing started out like a kiln. Today, my wife couldn’t even boil a pot of water without restarting the burner multiple times because it kept shutting off. ORIGINAL: I’ve used this burner a handful times so far. This burner is very hot! When you turn it on, it heats up to red hot. It cycles ON (red hot) and OFF with a frequency based on the number you select on the dial. The higher the number, the longer the burner stays ON. So the dial is not as much a temperature control as it is a timer. This stove only seems to have High as a temperature, then it cycles ON/OFF repeatedly. This is typical of other Asian made stoves that I’ve used. As far as cooking goes, the temperature is difficult to manage. Anything above a 2 on the dial will burn your food quickly. I’ve cooked eggs, pancakes, beef, and a few other things on this burner. It’s hotter and less manageable than my Coleman camp stove that runs on white gas. This stove, of course, is more convenient to set up and can be used indoors. Using this stove requires some practice so you’ll probably waste a little bit of food while you get the hang of it. It’s serving as our stove burner while I repair the built-in stove in our house. This will get you by in a pinch, but it’s not the safest thing you’ve ever used and controlling the temperature is touchy. We don’t regret the purchase since at the time of this writing, it’s selling for only about $12. We’ll keep it as our emergency backup.
