Mark's open and honest sharing of his thoughts and life experiences is absolutely inspiring! What quickly takes me to the deep end though, is his masterful and spell binding use of words which "paint" portals into spaces beyond routine thinking. Not only does his artistry "paint" the doorway and invite entry, through his penetrating questions, you can sense him humbly walking alongside willing to compare notes with you all along the way. I'm grateful for the stroke of grace which brought me to this most welcomed return to the deep each time I dive into any portion of it. Thank you Mark! From this book.... Just the book I needed to read. For anyone going through a crisis or feeling of inadequacy, this is the book. Definitely, eye opening! I bought 1 for my friend whom recently lost her husband.

"The One Life We're Given" offers a road map into a consciousness that allows the reader to glimpse what it looks like to be One with All that is and to experience a sense of why we have come here in this lifetime. A wordsmith that paints pictures with his poetic prose.

My favorite book of Mark's. His descriptive metaphorical narrative grabs me hard. I need to re-read sometimes more than twice to really gain understanding. But it's worth it. He does go to the deep end which I don't experience much. My goal (and dream) is to be able to attend his on-site programs one day. I'm recommending this jewel to anyone who will listen!

This book is absolutely the book you are looking for if you want to find a spiritual teacher that will walk with you to your authentic self. Buy this book and then buy all of Mark Nepo's books. I tell my clients, If I could only have one book on my shelf, Mark Nepo's Book of Awakening would be enough..

I really enjoyed his book, The Book of Awakening. While The one Life We're Given provides interesting reading, it has not been as helpful to me at ...Awakening.

All of Mark's work is treasure for me, His books held me through two years of struggle with cancer, thank you Mark for another beautiful book.

I discovered the writings of Mark Nepo when Oprah talked about his book "The Book of Awakening" and have been a fan ever since. This book, like his others does not disappoint. I slowly devoured each section as part of my morning practice and have just reached the end.. tomorrow i start from the beginning again. It's a book that needs to be read slowly. Like his book "The Endless Practice", which i also treasure, Mark compassionately and tenderly guides the reader - the explorer - on a journey through different landscapes and invites each person to explore and discover their own meaning of truth. Whilst Mark is indeed a teacher, what is clear in this book (and his others) is that he is also a student walking alongside us, his readers.

Mark Nepo is such a wonderful writer. Just started this book and am looking forward to the journey ahead.
