Tastes good -- just don't expect it to taste like beef
Used the product to make a French Onion soup for a friend who can no longer eat beef due to an allergy acquired as an adult. The seasoning helped to make the soup delicious, but no one should really expect a plant-based product to really taste like meat. Enjoy the product for what it is -- a flavorful seasoning. The small, 2oz package contains enough powdered seasoning for several dishes because you do not need a lot to add flavor to soups or sauces or gravy. The lack of a star is twofold: First, the package is labeled gluten free BUT it is packaged on the same line as wheat products. I went on the products website and nowhere on the site did it note that the product is PPM tested or that the equipment has "good manufacturing practices" (meaning it is thoroughly cleaned before the run of a gluten free product). For that reason alone my Celiac kid does not eat the food prepared with this product. My second reason for the lack of a star is the packaging; it is not resealable. Why is the packaging not resealable when it is not a one-time-use product?

Tastes Better Than Meat based
I've used this for seasoning, broths and soups. Its delicious mixed with plant-based butter on noodles. Sprinkled on any veg.

I guess it's just not for me. Maybe others like it. It's not bad, but not my favorite either.
I've been using it in a variety of things, mostly tofu and roast veggies and such. It's not offensive as a light seasoning, where I really don't notice it. But I guess at that point I don't really want to use it. I have other meaty/umami type seasonings that I like a lot better, personally. I was interested in trying this out because I saw a guy who's videos I watch promoting/using this, so I'm glad I did try it. Now I know it's just not for me. As with most food, everyone has different tastes, so others might like this a lot. ... Key to ratings: ***** - well above average - best I’ve seen **** - above average - very good quality *** - average - not bad, not great ** - below average - I probably wish I'd gotten something different * - a waste of resources - I wish this had never been made

Great tasting, low sodium. Works well anywhere you use beef broth.
This tastes really good and is low sodium, which is what I was looking for. Many of the national brands and store brands of beef broth have a lot of sodium, even the ones marked low sodium. I really love onion soup and decided to try my onion soup recipe with broth made from this seasoning, rather than regular beef broth. It turned out very good and the soup tasted great. This doesn't taste exactly like beef broth, but it is really close. I didn't tell my family that I'd used this and they didn't notice any difference. And they ate healthier, so a big win for me. The package I received had a best used by date of October 20, 2024, so this is presumably fresh and still has a lot of shelf life left. My only complaint is that I wished it was packaged in a jar or zip lock bag, because once you open this pouch, you have to store it in something else to prevent spills. So, if you are trying to go vegan or just want to cut out sodium whenever possible, I certainly would recommend this.
