A darling brain training game
I love brain training games and Brainiversity is one of the best. It's bare-bones design is very appealing. Edison the talking lightbulb is adorable and makes you feel like you have a friend when you play. I like how his words are 'garbled', not actual words..really cute. The only drawback is during some games (like Wordmaker) he repeats himself the whole time you are playing, which is distracting. Therefore I usually turn his voice off (nice to have that option). There are many different games to play, and all are in big, bold, simple graphics which are appealing. You won't be squinting at the screen! The music is WONDERFUL, sweet and simple, and stops during the actual "tests" which is good (no distractions). As you progress, different games are unlocked. You get a daily test each day composed of 4 tests. At the end it is recorded on your own private graph. Then you can play all the games individually and each one is recorded on your own private graph for the individual games, too. You can then play again as much as you want (but it is only entered on your graph(s) once a day).I am 46 and reasonably intelligent and I do not find this game too simplistic or repetitive. I thought for sure the Spelling Test, for example, would be ridiculously easy but it isn't! It's multiple choice and they have come up with some long complicated words to challenge me. I'm guessing the game is created to grow along with the user. A young speller's words would probably be easier, and as you progress, the words get harder. This makes for endless gameplay w/out getting bored.Similarly the other games get harder as you progress. This is a sweet and simple yet challenging game, one of the best brain train games I've tried (and I've tried many). Die-hard "experts" will find it too easy, and it does not inundate the user with statistics (like reaction time etc; there is none of that here). It would be a great game for kids and also for seniors. It's not intimidating, its friendly and easy to play.Highly recommended for all but the most advanced (advanced brain train enthusiasts should try mybraintrainer.com).You can download a trial version off the internet. No doubt you will be hooked. I bought this as a gift for my sister on her birthday as she fell in love with it playing it just once on my PC. She is 48.

I am enjoying this simple little program. I've been ...
I am enjoying this simple little program. I've been wanting to find a program where I could strengthen my mind, but not spend a fortune. This is exactly what I was looking for. It's a daily sit down and practice and then take a daily test. Once you finish practicing, you are done for the day. There's a chart that monitors your progress. Considering how expensive other brain training programs are, I found this to be a bargain.

Great software that WILL help improve your brain and especially your memory.
Great software that WILL help improve your brain and especially your memory. I've had it for less than two months and the improvement in my 75 year old brain and especially my memory which appeared to be getting worse is now getting better.

the other, cheap lumosity-type brain games
I was one of the folks who saw the saturation marketing for Lumosity and yes, I did the free trial for awhile. After getting frustrated by not being able to try all of the tests -- hmmmm wonder if 'the brain experts' planned it as such? -- and was just about to consider ordering a subscription. The Lumosity trial must have worked because my brain thought, hey, I wonder if there are any other programs out there similar to Lumosity? I did a search in amazon, and this is what I discovered, a used version for about $11. After having used both programs, I can comfortably say that Brainiversity is a satisfactory equivalent to Lumosity. I would recommend if you want to put your brain through exercise, this is the program to purchase. It is suitable for children or adults.

Excellent and Fun to Play
I downloaded the demo version of this program and was so impressed I purchased the CD.Don't listen to the naysayer reviews of this program. Your brain is a muscle and needs to be exercised!I have a child with a learning disability. Many of the exercises in this program are similar to the ones we are using in his therapy program to build cognitive thinking. They are fun and ease to do and certainly can't hurt you. They are far better and more stimulating that the useless dribble we all watch on TV everyday.I'm sure there are better quality programs out there but consider this. If a person is overweight the first thing he or she needs to do is make little changes to their life to improve their health. Any doctor/nutritionist would recommend: drink water, take the stairs instead of the elevator, park farther away and walk to your car. This program is a first step toward getting your brain back in shape.. . . . .Oh by the way, it is Windows 7 compatible. I had no trouble running it using the 32-bit version of the operating system.

Brainversity
I ordered this and really didn't know what to expect. I can tell you this, I love it. I do the daily practice test everyday and I feel sharper since I have been using this. It has math, memory, analysis, and language tests that are fun and challenging at the same time. If you want to work your gray matter this is the program for you. It has daily graphs and stamps that you can earn as you progress through your practice.

Not really what I was looking for
I was looking more for a memory enhancing game, not something with time pressure and a bunch of school type questions. I like Brain Spa much better.

Great for seniors!
I really like the games. I'm a senior citizen and this keeps the old brain working. Fun, everyday games and can practice anytime. Love it!
