It doesn't click - just pushes in snugly. I suggest you contact the vendor if yours isn't fitting. I had a prompt response when doing so.

My blades are not sharp. I can run my finger along the blades and they feel smooth, but dull. Should they feel dull?

I don’t have that problem in the least. I use the chopper at least weekly to make our “slaw salad”. Carrots, celery, cabbage and parsley process in 3-4 pulses on lowest setting. I make smoothies from frozen fruit with no problem. So far so good. Good luck to you.
