I'm of the age where the huge, chunky, wooden knife block is a kitchen must have--and I have always hated them! They take up too much space and they are awful to clean. So, after years of risking fingertips in knife drawers, I found this. I love it!Just squish a knife into the block wherever you want (no finding the "perfect" slot in the wooden knife block) and there it stands, snug and ready without any exposed blades. Mine currently holds my big all-purpose knife, two slicers, a bread knife and three small paring knives. No crowding, no fuss.I saw some reviews complaining about it being difficult to clean. Um, no. Just wipe the outer surface with a soapy dishrag, then dry--it's smooth and easy to clean. The top with the slots can be brushed off with a dry cloth. If the complainers mean cleaning the slots inside? Excuse me, but if you're putting dirty or wet blades into the slots, you're doing it wrong. Your knives should be clean and dry before slotting them. There should be nothing on the inside to clean.This is the best replacement for a wooden knife block that I can imagine.

Careful! The red will come off on the countertop when it gets wet. It hasn't stained... But it isn't the best sign. Otherwise it works really great! Takes up very little space. Holds my limited number of knives. Easy access. Now I don't have knives. Just sitting out strewn about the countertop. Love this product.

I have a large family and we like to get together for meals every so often which a lot of times requires steak knives so I bought this along with 14 steak knives and it is fantastic. It holds all my steak knives perfectly and adds a pop of color to my kitchen.

Love the pop of color. Fits 10 knives easily with room for a couple more. It is lightweight so you need to put your hand on it when pulling a knife out. Better than the bulky wood block.
