Powerful tester and great price! Get it!
Great tester for the price. Amazing what this tester is capable of doing. The network cable tester is amazing. I bought this mostly to tone out cables, but now I am amazed how much this thing can do. The only minor negative is the build quality is not for pro use, but for the price you can't go wrong! Highly recommended!

Good but fragile
Works great until the first time you smack an end on the wall or it falls off the desk. Then that receiver can never be trusted again.

It works...
I like that it has many features and allows testing for more that one kind of cabling. You will defiantly have to calibrate the length setting, especially if you use imperial measurements. Which does bring me to two very, very, very annoying things about the main testing device. If you do use imperial measurements, and you do calibrate the length setting, each and every time you turn the device off/on you will have to select imperial measurements again (you can "save" the settings you've set for calibration after you calibrated, but you will always have to reload those settings each and every time you turn the device off/on.)As to the eight remote sensors you get, not only will it tell you which sensor your checking against at the main device, but the sensor your currently testing against will beep while your connected to it once you run the test (wire mapping, pair/length tests). If the cable your testing for length is less that about three feet, the device will always come back with "open" not the actual length. However, if you plug a remote sensor onto the other end, it will return a length - though it will likely be zero.If you watch the video they provide in the description on amazon for this, be aware that the red device they show in the video is setup differently than the blue one here. For one thing, in the video the main port and loopback ports are right next to each other on top of the device. Not so on the blue one. The loopback port is on the side and also not labeled "loopback" rather it's labeled "RJ45 testing". The device works well enough, but the user "manual" included, and the description here in the ad are confusing compared to what you get. On the front of the main device there are four buttons and one tiny switch. Power button, up/down arrow buttons (one each), and a "Pair" button. They don't tell you that the "Pair" button is also the "OK" button. In other words, once you select the test you want to do with the up/down arrow buttons, you need to press to "Pair" button to actually run the test, or confirm the selection. The tiny switch is used only for turning on "scan" mode for the remote audio sensor that scans for the active cable you've plugged into the device. That's the remote sensor that whistles when it gets close to the active cable. Good for finding which cable is searched for in the midst of a group of cables. Like when your at a computer and need to know exactly which cable at the router or switch this computers network cable is located in. Plug cable at computer into main device, set tiny switch to scan, take pointy remote sensor with you to router/switch, press hold down button on pointy remote sensor while moving pointy part over cables connected to router/switch and when that sensor starts whistling loudly you've found the cable that connects back to the computer.Hope this helps someone - or at least makes them smile. ☺For my use this device is good enough. I don't make a lot of network or phone cables, I also don't make any BNC cables but I do use them for my security cameras so it's nice to have the ability to test those cables when needed. The price was well within my budget too. So, over all I'm not completely disappointed in this purchase. If I could select - and keep - the imperial measurements even after shutting the device off, that in itself would be an extra star from me! 😉. Keep on hoping for better things to come, yes?

The good: it's working
The good: it's working, and so far, I trust it. The bad: the unit won't retain the length setting in feet. It always reverts back to meters when powered off. It's odd because it does retain the back light setting. I hope that it holds up with time.

I wish I can give it zero stars.
The video they made of the product looks very good but when I tried to do the same things had very bad results.Tested cat5 and cat6 cables. This device kept showing me faults in the cables. At first I thought they were just bad but when I used my cheaper tester it shows cables were just fine. This device was giving false reads 99.99 percent of the time.Don’t waste your money you will regret it.

Great price for an accurate reading
I have used this now for a few months and have had no issues. I have likely tested over 500 lines with it so far. Battery life is good. No issues.

Works great!
This product is great for ensuring proper connections. I was refitting old cat5 phone lines to be Ethernet. This tool helped me identify connections where the wire order was wrong and which wires and which end. Saved me countless headaches.

niklas.
