Five Stars for value and it's mere existence in this format!
This collection gathers the original 20 Rubble anthologies from the 1980s in one neat box at a fraction of the cost if you were to track down and purchase the vinyl LPs or, of course, the original 45s on which the 1980s albums were based. The CDs have been available before in two 10 volume boxes. Vols. 1-10 is still available but 11-20 is advertised only at silly prices. This collection represents good value therefore and if previous trends are repeated, will soon command higher prices itself. It would be fair to say that whilst the package currently represents five star value for money (at about £2.25 per disc if you go to Amazon Market Place), some of the tracks are not especially five star quality. My interest in the anthology is mainly in the 'popsike' genre and there is much of interest here. Obscure names sit alongside more familiar groups but there is no shortage of melodic, orchestrated, whimsical UK songs of the late sixties if that's what you enjoy. Less interesting for me, but not for others I'm sure, are the quantity of similar sounding UK based rhythm 'n' blues and garage tracks included, some of which are on the periphery of psychedelia. However, they are certainly worthy of a listen and there is much here to enjoy over repeated listenings.Much has been written elsewhere of the recording and transfer quality of collections of this type. I have listened to several anthologies of this nature and this one is one of the better in terms of consistency and overall sound quality. The discs claim that the transfers are a result of returning to the original master tapes (rather than vinyl transfers that some anthologies use). This may be the case but 45 year old tape that has not been particularly treasured has its limitations but there's nothing to really detract here as long you are not expecting 21st century clarity. The accompanying booklets, as I suspect the mastering, is the same as the previous CD versions, with vols. 1-10 in one book and 11-20 in another. They contain session details, brief biographies of the artists, original 45 catalogue numbers and label/sleeve art where appropriate; overall quite comprehensive. In short, a thoroughly enjoyable package- get it whilst you can whilst it's the right side of £50!

Golden gem of a box set
This is a brilliant collection of rare and obscure 60's records on a compilation of 20 CD's in a lovely compact box which has 2 nice and very informative booklets that accompanies this fine set. For the price, you just can't go wrong, heard quite a few of these records before, and many that are new to me, but sound great all the same, some very catchy tunes indeed. So if you love 60's music and always wanted to venture into new genres of such a great decade, then this set is a must to anyone who can appreciate great music, when they hear it. 10/10 for a superb box set and a cracking price too!

Una raccolta unica di artisti e musica da non perdere per chi ama gli anni '60. In questa raccolta si possono trovare brani poco conosciuti di compositori molto validi.

UK-Psychedelic Pop & Rock ...
The Psychedelic Snarl"[1] Wimple Winch - Atmospheres [01/1967][2] The Mirroer - Faster Than Light [05/1968][3] Caleb - Woman Of Distinction [07/1967][4] Martin Cure & The Peeps - It's All Over Now [09/1967][5] The Living Daylights - Always With Him [1967][6] The Misunderstood - Never Had A Girl Like You Before [07/1969][7] The Open Mind - Cast A Spell [08/1969][8] The Dakotas - The Spider And The Fly [1968][9] Wimple Winch - Rumble On Mersey Square South [01/1967][10] The Open Mind - Magic Potion [08/1969][11] The Living Daylights - Let's Live For Today [04/1967][12] The Craig - I Must Be Mad [06/1966][13] Unit 4+2 - I Will [10/1969][14] The Hush - Grey [06/1968][15] Wimple Winch - Save My Soul [06/1966][16] The Mindbenders - The Morning After [12/1966]°°°°°°°°°°CD 2: "Pop-Sike Pipe-Dreams"[1] The Mode - Eastern Music [05/1967][2] Wimple Winch - Marmalade Hair [1967][3] The Parking Lot - World Spinning Sadly [05/1969][4] The Pretty Things - Delecting Grey [11/1967][5] Keith West - Kid Was A Killer [07/1968][6] Shotgun Express - Indian Thing [04/1967][7] The Executive - Tracy Took A Trip [1968][8] Wimple Winch - Lollipop Minds [1967][9] The Talismen - You Break My Heart [1966][10] The Pretty Things - Walking Through My Dreams [02/1968][11] Bo Street Runners - Love [12/1966][12] Sons Of Fred - Sweet Love [06/1965][13] Wimple Winch - Bluebell Wood [1965][14] Idle Race - Knocking Nails Into My House [03/1968][15] Spencer Davis Group - After Tea [03/1968][16] Gordon Waller - Rosecrans Blvd. [01/1968]°°°°°°°°°°CD 3: "Nightmares In Wonderland"[1] The Brain - Nightmares In Red [05/1967][2] Focus Three - 10,000 Years Behind My Mind [10/1967][3] The Pretty Things - Talkin' About The Good Times [02/1968][4] Bamboo Shoot - The Fox Has Gone To Ground [03/1968][5] Wild Silk - Visions In A Plaster Sky [1969][6] Mark Wirtz - He's Our Dear Old Weatherman [02/1968][7] The Lemon Tree - William Chalker's Time Machine [03/1968][8] The Koobas - Barricades [1967][9] Aquarian Age - 10,000 Words In A Cardboard Box [05/1968][10] The Pretty Things - Mr. Evasion [11/1967][11] The Executive - Gardena Dreamer [1968][12] The Chances Are - Fragile Child [03/1967][13] Ipissimus - Hold On [04/1969][14] Edwick Rumbold - Shades Of Grey [07/1967][15] The Penny Peeps - Model Village [02/1968][16] Tomorrow - Revolution [09/1967]°°°°°°°°°°CD 4: "The 49 Minute Technicolour Dream"[1] Jason Crest - Black Mass [1969][2] The Mirage - The Wedding Of Ramona Blair [1967][3] Caleb - Baby Your Phrasing Is Bad [07/1967][4] Kaleidoscope - Flight From Ashiya [09/1967][5] The Cymbaline - Matramonial Fears [11/1967][6] Finders Keepers - On The Beach [12/1967][7] The Californians - The Cooks Of Cake & Kindness [01/1969][8] Rings & Things - Strange Things Are Happening [12/1968][9] The Fox - Butterfly [06/1970][10] Unit 4+2 - 3.30 A.M.
