I typically wear a 12 or 14 in tops and pants. The listing suggested that the XL was a size 16/18, but the size chart put the XL at closer to a 12 or 14. I think it's probably the appropriate measurements for a 14, but rather short. I'm 5'9". The waist on this hit me really high -- like mid ribcage. I'd guess it's more ideal for someone in the 5'5" range. When it hits too high it's just not flattering. The bust was also pretty small and I'm only a 36/38 C. I'm sure many will be fine with the way the bust fits, but for me it's just too revealing. The color is as pictured and the fabric and quality are acceptable. This reminds me of a dress I'd find at a chain discount store. I have not doubt this could be quite flattering on the right person. But it doesn't work for me. The sleeves need to be pushed up a tiny bit to get the same sort of ballooning you see on the model. This was the one area for me, though, that the dress ran a bit big. I could push the sleeves up fine, but they'd slide down within ten minutes or so and then sit a couple inches above my elbows. The pleating is cute and the overall style is nice. It really just doesn't work for someone on the taller side. Actually, it might work if you have long legs and a shorter torso. I do not. I have a 31" inseam. From the shoulder seam to the waistband is about 16". I need closer to 20".

I'm not a fan of this dress, at least not on me. On someone taller/trimmer this may look nice.The material has a definite polyester feel to it, which I found to be itchy/uncomfortable - even if I did like the design the material would have been enough to not care for the dress. The overall design wasn't flattering at all, for me. The top's back showed every lump and roll (for those who it fits smoothly I'd recommend a smooth backed bra so none of the adjustments show). The skirt starts just under a fitted band right beneath the bust line - I thought it would fall from there to cover my tummy but it seemed to just accentuate that. There's a side zipper, which I usually like better than a back zipper - however it sticks at the waist band and can be tricky to fully zip up and down. Skirt is fully pleated, and lined. It fit well over my hips but did hug my backside a bit too much.SIZE: I have this in a Medium and it did fit - a size L would have been sloppy across the bust, back, and shoulders. I wear a Medium in tops, dresses, and leggings. I'm 5'4" tall, 36B bust, and carry my weight in my hips and backside with a bit of tummy too.

My fear about this dress sadly came true... it's too small. The sizing was very unclear. I'm normally a size 8, so I took a chance and ordered the Medium. I should have known that wouldn't be correct but the inch measurements were all off from the estimated US sizing. If you're unsure about sizing, size UP - it runs very small. The inch measurements appear to be accurate and the US sizing is not.Apart from my disappointment about the sizing, the dress is beautiful! It's well made and workmanship is beautiful. I love the pleats and the puffed sleeves. The zipper in the back should (theoretically) make it easier to put on, and the length is really nice. I just wish I could wear it!
