do the balls come out of the puzzle or are they secured inside?

The balls are very well secured inside. The toy is sturdy and safe. This is a great toy for toddlers through young school age. It is one of my kids favorite car trip toys. Hope this helps.

Is this a good airplane toy and will my almost 3 year old get enough play to justify price?

My 3 1/2 year old got about 30 min. of quiet play out of it on a road trip when given to him for the first time. I showed him how it worked and challenged him along the way (i.e. can you put all the balls in the circle). He continued to go back to it with a shorter attenton span each time, but I still chalk it as a win. I buy very few new toys but usually pick up something for each road trip to work the wow factor. This item was worth it for us. I will keep it packed away for the next trip.

Is this awesome or not? Kids get a lot of use or did they get bored?

I mounted this right on the wall at kid level, in the nurses station. Elementary students were so nervous and full of anxiety that they peeled the paint off the wall where they waited for the nurse. Let's face it when kids feel sick the school nurse is not mommy. Well now the students are so busy playing this they are less anxious about seeing the nurse, the paint stays on the wall and the nurse can easily wipe it clean. Every Elementery Nurses station should have one or two of these.,

Why does this show under "toys made in the usa" when it clearly states made in china?

It may have been miss categorized by Amazon. I will see if I can change it. Thank you for pointing it out.
