BEST portable monitor for HP laptops with data-only USB-C
I do work that sometimes requires two monitors. My laptop only has one HDMI hookup and no other video hookup. My USB-C on my HP laptop is data only, so it cannot support video streaming with a USB-C monitor or dock. This refurbished AOC monitor was a huge bargain at the price it sold for. There are no missing pixels. There were no issues on start up. I plugged it in, used one USB outlet to power it and I was good to go. I could even set it up to be in portrait mode while my other monitor stays in landscape mode which is exactly what I need to view PDF files on one screen while I type/use e-mails, etc. on the other screen. I haven't tried using it connected to my phone yet, but I'm hoping it will work with it as well (with a USB to USB-C converter). I'll update once I know how that works. As far as the monitor. Color is great, size is perfect even for my senior eyes with glaucoma, brightness setting was fine as is). I have not figured out if there is a separate way to control those things on the monitor itself or if I do all that from my laptop settings. It is super lightweight and small enough I can carry it in my laptop bag with my laptop (which has 2 padded sleeves). This will come in handy when I'm working away from home and want to watch videos as well. Instead of trying to balance my laptop on my lap or sit in an upright chair at a desk, I can hook this up to my phone (hopefully) and just rest this screen on something to watch. Or I can use a really long USB cable and sit across the room from the laptop in a comfy chair or couch Either one will suffice. If you are searching for an inexpensive portable monitor that can be hooked up to ANY laptop or computer, I highly suggest this. Since it uses just a USB connection (w/converter on that cable) it can be used with old school computers/laptops, with new ones, and even with laptops that have a data-only USB-C port.

Need a great portable monitor for travel at a reasonable price? Look no further!
I work remotely from home, but sometimes I need to work in a different remote location while visiting friends, family, etc. and I really need a second monitor (in addition to my laptop) to work efficiently. But who wants to schlep a standard PC monitor with them, especially if you are flying? To find a solution, I Googled portable monitors and this came up. After some research, this was the cheapest one with the best reviews. I was able to buy it Amazon refurbed for $83. SWEET DEAL!I did have some reservations because my work laptop is on Windows 10, and some reviewers claimed that it didn't work with that version of Windows. But other reviewers insisted it did, though a few more steps might need to be taken. I decided what the heck, I could return it if it didn't work out and pressed the Buy Now button. The monitor arrived in perfect condition. The packaging is well designed but still uses a minimum of materials, almost all of which is recyclable to boot. The monitor was well protected and the instructions included offered not 1 but 3 different ways to install the needed driver, in case one didn't work. Option 1, plug and play, didn't work for me. But by following the second option to install the driver manually, I had the monitor up and running in less than 10 minutes total. My laptop immediately recognized the monitor after the driver was installed, and added it to the other 3 I use normally (I work in IT). So I could even use it as a 4th monitor, if I wanted to! But alas, not enough desk space. #firstworldproblemsPicture quality is excellent. The color and contrast aren't quite as bright as I would like though, which is why I gave that aspect only 4 stars. I tried adjusting the display settings for these but Windows didn't really give me the option to. #firstworldproblems (again)The monitor is light and the built in stand works great. Folds flat, and the USB input is inside the recessed stand area. The open stand design allows the USB cable to be threaded through it, which is a nice feature. I love that there is no separate power cord, the display and power BOTH work off the USB cable. Another nice design feature, just saying!Seriously, folks, RUN, do not walk to buy this, especially if you can get a good deal like I did. Other travel monitors were $150 and up. But their ratings and reviews weren't any better. The price on Amazon has gone up for both the refurbished and the new one since I bought mine. I would use Amazon Assistant or Honey's Droplist to monitor the price and see if it comes down again at all.I hope you find this review as helpful as I think this monitor will be.Peace out, peeps!
