Sunrise Sun Simulator Day Light SRS150 Alarm Clock

Great concept and relatively easy to use. However it is let down by a continuous low level electrical hum that is readily apparent at night.

I am a bit disappointed by this alarm clock. It's OK, but compared to my last S.A.D. alarm clock It's not great. The sound is average, with insufficient base, which makes it sound a bit tinny. If I set the radio as the alarm together with the light, the volume intermittently increases above the point that it should. I am making sure I keep the receipt as I guess at some point within warranty it's going to go wrong. Having said that, it will just be my luck that it lasts about 12 months and a couple of days before packing up.

I am really surprised that no one has yet written a review of this lamp controller, and just as surprised that the vendor hasn't put any specs up. My partner (who suffers from SAD in the winter months) asked if I could get her a sunrise lamp to replace the one she used to have. I thought I would do a little research into the actual functionality and benefits of these types of lamp. She informed me that she had a 'Lumie' lamp with a daylight bulb for a couple of years, but unfortunately simply stopped working despite changing the bulb it never worked again. After a fair bit of research on Amazon and other sites, I found that the build quality of these lamps were lacking somewhat, and total failure after a couple of years was not uncommon. If you naturally think that these lights are fitted with bulbs for the treatment of SAD double check, most dont! I bought this unit based on reading the user guide on another site. This SRS 150 controller has the benefit of being able to action the sunset feature slowly turning the lamp off with timings between 5mins to 90mins in 5min increments. the sunrise feature also has timings between 5mins to 90mins. additionally you have the option of waking up to one of 7 pre-recorded sounds twittering birds, waves on the shore etc on the included SD card, these slowly increase in volume along with the light intensity. If you don't fancy the pre-recorded sounds, simply record or download your own. If you prefer to wake to the stereo radio, that is built in too. If you wish to preset different alarm times for different days of the week, that can be done too. Our favourite bedside lamp is plugged into this unit with a normal 100w incandescent bulb fitted (Aldi £1.50 for 4). final light intensity can easily be set also. When on low intensity the bulb gives a lovely warm glow. if required, plug in a multiway adapter to control several lamps to come on around your room. if you are concerned about the intensity of the clock time display, don't be, there are several colours of back light to chose from with fully adjustable light intensity settings, you can even let the clock permanently gently scroll through all the colours. This unit may not be cheap at a hundred quid, but you won't regret buying one. My partner says it blows the Lumie out of the water, and felt significant benefits within a week of use.

I had used the earlier version, SRS 100, for 10 years and was very happy with it. I loved the sunrise-sunset simulator, the fact I could use my own lamp, the fact I could set a different waking time for each day of the week...But I regretted that when there was a power outage, I would have to reset everything. And I would have liked to be able to listen to my music, or my audio books.After 10 years, my SRS 100 suddenly died. And I found that the SRS 150 offered all the options I loved, plus those I had been hoping for!I saved my favorite music and guided meditations on the memory card that is provided. The music stopped with the sunset feature and I had a very peaceful night: 8 hours of sleep for the first time in months!If you are looking for natural ways so you feel more energy in the morning and sleep better at night, this is a great way!Nota: I bought this SRS 150 in France but thought my feedback could interest Amazon UK buyers.
