Build quality is good and the drive works flawlessly with a USB to SATA cable and the bare drive can be considered somewhat portable and Plug and play in that regard, but also works as an internal drive for laptops/All-in-ones with a 12.7mm optical bay. It can read CDs and DVDs and burn CD-R and DVD-R discs. I tested the drive, writing a DVD-R 4.7GB disc and it burned sucessfully.
