Great Perch: But 4 Out of 5 Stars
So, I do absolutely love this perch. It was hard to find a good, easy to clean, sturdy perch for my Diamond Dove. (She has tiny feetsies and you want a perch that is both comfortable for their feet and exercises them.) I bought one previously at a local pet shop and loved it and so does she. It's her favorite perch. However, this product gets a 4 out of 5 stars for one reason. So, when you attach the perch to the cage, you put a washer on the screw, put the screw part of the perch through the cage bars, throw another washer on the other side, then tighten into place with a wing nut. The perch itself is very sturdy in design, but the screw became a problem after long use (although, to be fair, it's maybe only been about a year). After a while, the screw becomes stripped where you tighten it and you no longer are able to tighten into place. Everything else holds up, but it seems the screw wears away kind of easily. I didn't want to just chuck the old perch because it was still good, but you can't just replace the screw. I ended up "fixing" the problem by adding a few more washers to it to push the wing nut past the stripped part of the screw. Eventually, that will wear away too. I couldn't find this brand of perch at the stores where I currently live, so luckily I found it here. I went ahead and bought another one for when the original perch eventually becomes unusable. Overall it's a good product, I just wish the screw was a bit more sturdy. I have yet to have this problem with the other similarly designed perches I own. Their screws have held up, so maybe it's just this brand. Either way, solid 4 out of 5 stars.

My birds LOVE this perch, and Hagen is a GREAT company!
I have actually purchased two of these perches for my parakeets. I wanted a second one so that I could replace the branch when soiled and clean it thoroughly while alternating with the clean branch in the cage. Before I bought the first one I was concerned about the material it was made of considering the birds might chew on it. I found the website for Hagen and called and was given very clear and useful information from the standpoint of an employee who uses the perches for his own birds. I felt confident the perch would be fine. The first one I received was not padded very well, looked like it had bounced around the box, and had what I thought might be a small crack...but no where near where my birds could get their feet. When I ordered the second perch it came packaged so well I could hardly get it loose! My birds LOVE this perch and use the different branches to play and have their little "I am the tallest one" competitive disagreements. It is now something they would miss terribly. While cleaning the first perch after considerable use a chip did come off of the area where I had seen the small crack. It did not chip or break in any other areas other than where it had been damaged no doubt in transit. It was too late for a refund or replacement...so I contacted Hagen directly. I had also read some negative reviews on Amazon about the perch. In my e-mail to Hagen about the damage and questions about the reviews I found a company that takes its' products and the health of its' customer's pets VERY seriously!! I not only received a replacement, but an education in a thoughtful personal e-mail from an Avian Product Specialist on my bird's feet! Hagen has a Research Institute and they use their own perches...they know their stuff! It was recommended that I have 3 different surfaces to take the proper care of their feet...including a rope perch which they said is our equivalent of "comfy slippers". Bottom line...I think the perch is great...but of course will watch for any damage...I bought a rope perch on Amazon already. I could not recommend Hagen more! If anyone has a problem or a question about the perch...go to the source! Great Customer service there!

Natural looking, cleans easily, but check your measurements.
We recently adopted a second canary who came to us in a *very* small cage recommended by the pet shop that sold the bird. So I bought him a roomy, proper (yet affordable) Petco Designer White Finch Flight Cage like the one we use for our first canary. In wanting to outfit the second cage as comfortably as the first, I looked for another natural or natural-looking perch that would allow Bird #2 to sleep as high in the cage as possible, something canaries prefer to do at night. When I couldn't find the same one as I'd bought for Bird #1, I bought this one - and both Bird #2 and I have been very pleased. (Bird #1 doesn't care.) It cleans up easily, washes and dries quickly (safer for birds, since wet wooden perches aren't a good idea, ever), looks nice, and gives Bird #2 several choices of where to sit and snooze. The only caution would be that though it's identified as "small," it's in fact pretty big for any of those tiny cages pet shops are, inexplicably, so willing to sell. Check you measurements, and if you decide to use this perch in a very small cage, be prepared to remove the existing upper perch. If you have a very small cage, please consider buying a larger one; like us, even tiny birds need to spread their wings every now and then.

Overall Decent
I bought this perch thinking it was real wood (completely my bad I should've read the description instead of looks alone!), but that is not why I am giving it three stars. I have a small (31 gram) American Parakeet. She enjoyed the many perching options of this perch, but while cleaning her cage I was unscrewing it and it broke! I was putting a little force behind the screw trying to undue it, but nothing over the top. The bottom branch snapped revealing the white plastic (or stone? I am not sure of the material, it is very hard and a bit rough) core of the perch. It was a jagged break so I filed it down as best I could and removed it from my parakeet's cage. I have left it as a perch on her play gym because she does enjoy it, but I would prefer to watch her with the broken area and not leave it in over night.I might have gotten one with a weak spot because all the other "branches" on the perch have held up just fine. They are strong and while stiff they provide a good texture for my bird's feet. They do look very realistic and provide many options for perching. Honestly, I am unsure if I would buy again or just buy a real wood perch.

Buena calidad, buen tamaño solo que a veces llegan en mal estado.
tiene buen tamaño para una ninfa, solo que compré 2 y una llegó rota, una lástima, tiene buena calidad pero cuiden más cuando lo envuelvan.
