Good trail cam
Good trail cam for the money, very satisfied. Read other reviews as this does use 8 double A batteries at one time and regular SD card. I bought rechargeable batteries.

Pretty good basic trail cam - but not a fan of the wifi
I've purchased and used a lot of these Meidase/GardePro trail cams and this one uses the same software as all the others. It also produces the same high-quailty videos and pictures that I've come to expect. The only thing lacking on this otherwise-great camera is side sensors. Other versions of these cameras have side sensors that can trip the camera when a subject is coming in to view from the side - so you get a more complete video of whatever is crossing the field of view. Without those side sensors, you sometimes miss the first second or two of a good shot. One thing I'm not a fan of is the wifi. There are certain situations where the wifi can be useful - mainly where you have to put the camera somewhere (high up?) where you can't access it easily. But for me, I'm usually mounting them at 3-5 feet off the ground so accessibility is not a problem. The reason I'm not a fan of the wifi is because.....it's......so......slow.....to....connect. It's not the fault of the camera, it's just how the wifi setup works: first you have to launch the app on your phone, then you have to get in range of the camera for bluetooth to detect it, then you press CONNECT and wait for the wifi to connect, and then....eventually....you can access the camera and check out the videos. I'd say it's about a 30-45 second process when I'm standing 30 feet from the camera. But if I'm 30 feet from the camera, I can just walk up to it, open it up, and start looking at the videos in 5 seconds - so it seems silly to just stand around waiting for my phone to connect when I could just look at the videos directly on the camera. Ok, sure, there are probably more scenarios where the wifi could work for you and if that's the case, then definitely consider this camera! It's a good camera with great quality. But for me, the wifi just isn't a feature I find worth paying extra for. Other than that, the only improvement I would make is the use of the increasingly popular rechargeable battery packs. As it is now, you have to use 8 AA batteries but you really should be using rechargeable lithium ion batteries, and those will set you back another $50.

Works well, minor inconveniences
I love how easy it is to set up this trail cam. Although, it does need an sd card to work (not included, but depending on your area, definitely go with an outdoor sd card); and everything else was a breeze. The app is easy to navigate and connect, just make sure you’re close to the cam during set up. Plus, I love that I don’t have to remove the sd card; and I can changing settings, download and delete the media, and even view the live feed straight from my phone. Although you do have to be rather close to connect, approximately a 100 feet. The motion detection does take time to set up, depending on how far off the ground the camera is and how wide of an open view you have; I had to up it a few times to get it right because I was barely getting anything unless it was right on the camera lens. Thankfully, everything seems to be working smoothly now. Now many people have mentioned the battery life, which if it’s constantly taking photos from the wind, it does tend to drain quickly. After getting my settings right though and changing the batteries, it’s been running for 10 days, taking 50 photos and 2 videos, and is at 92% battery life left. So I really think it depends on how active the area is, but I would still recommend getting 16 rechargeable batteries so you can swap them out and always have a set on hand that’s charged. Overall, I’m really happy with it and love getting to see what animals it picks up, the picture quality is excellent, the whole system seems to be handling all kinds of weather very well, and the app actually works. I’d definitely recommend it!

Good camera resolution! Recommend rechargeable AA batteries to round out the value.
This is an easy to use trail camera. I bought some rechargeable AA batteries so I wouldn't fill the garbage with one-time batteries. It would have been nice if it came with a Lipo built in, but at this price it wasn't hard to justify a set of rechargables. The directions were clear for the setup and use of the camera. I have not used the wifi because I'm not too trusting of second party apps accessing my phone. But the SD card works well. We set this camera out by our decorative fish pond on our property to catch wildlife that seem to visit at night. We see deer prints, rabbit tracks. After trying this camera in our yard while watching 4 deer right in front of it, it failed to capture anything over several minutes of the deer eating within 20 feet. It picks me up and our son walking out to the barn but doesn't seem to detect animals. We will rotate it out to our apple orchard to catch pictures of coyotes, foxes, and deer out there too. The quality seems high. The photo and video quality are very good when it does take pictures. It seems to be sensitive to direct sun as it took lots of pictures of a sunset. The latching seems secure and the housing is robust. Time will tell if it is durable over the winter cold and wet weather. But initial quality definitely inspire confidence that it will last. It was well packaged and came with a cable tree/pole mounting strap that is easy to use and adjust. Just disappointed that it doesn't see deer or rabbits. That's kind of the point. I'll also play with location and camera direction to see if that helps. Review Updated 2/2/26: I did some investigating into why I wasn't getting images of deer that I knew were visiting our pond. Many recommendations were to lower the camera to 2 feet off the ground. When I did that, I got very good images of deer during the night. In fact the camera was so good, it didn't even use the IR mode since it was a full moon. The picture looks like sunrise even though it is at 3AM in Michigan. I included a night time picture.
