Great fit for my wide foot and a solidly built shoe.
I have problems with width. Years of shoes that were too narrow or just abusing my feet running left me with constant pain. Over the last couple of years I've started buying a size up and the widest shoes I can find - that has alleviated much of the foot pain. The velcro straps of these sandals allow me to adjust them quite a bit. I normally wear 11.5-12. I bought the 12.5-13.5 and they fit very well. With winter being here, I've mainly been using them for spin class and they seem great - very solid, heavy construction. I also got these because I do multi-day tours in the warmer weather and I think these will make a great replacement for my cleated shoes for the rainy days I invariably encounter. I also like the fact that there is material in the front toe area to protect my foot. I've only had them for a couple of weeks but so far, so good. As long as they hold up, I'll be a very happy customer.Update: I've had the shoes for a couple of months now. I'm still only using them for spin classes 3-4 times per week until warmer weather hits. They have been great. Solid construction, nice and wide, comfortable and ability to be adjusted. I am very happy with this shoe.

Time ATAC cleat compatible, exactly what I wanted
I’m impressed with these. Good width, I wear EE wide shoes and they fit great. My 45/46 pair weighs 1015 grams (just under 2.25 lb), just slightly heavier than my Lake mtb. shoes (950 grams). Easy to remove & reusable cleat covers. Mounted Time ATAC cleats, they clip in easily with no trimming. The cleats are slightly thicker than the lugs so you get a slight clicking when walking on hard surfaces though not that loud. The soles are adequately stiff for single track riding yet still comfortable when walking. Getting them on & off using just the back strap is easy. With the crazy heat we’re having this summer wish I had bought these sooner.

Work great. Comfortable but heavy.
I took these with me on a bike tour in SE Asia. So glad to have them instead of regular bicycle shoes because i experienced a lot of rain. I didn’t wear socks and the water just flowed through the sandals. Every evening I rinsed them out and they were mostly dry the next day. Doesn’t really matter because water doesn’t bother them at all. However my feet now have weird tan lines from wearing these in the sun 😉.My only surprise when I purchased these was their weight. I wish they were lighter, but the thick soles are comfortable and stiff, which is more important to me.I’m happy I bought them. After two months of hard riding they’re still looking good.

The best SPD bicycle sandle
I have tried most of them out there including Lake, Keen and Shimano and I like the Exustar the best. Extremely well made, lots of ventilation, very comfy and a great value at $80. Exustar also makes the Ragster II sandals from Nashbar but they lack the third velcro strap and I do notice a difference especially when unclipping since the extra strap creates less play between my foot and the sandal. The Keen Commuter IIIs are definitely an improvement over their previous models but cost a lot and the narrow Velcro strap across the top of my foot was uncomfortable. Plus they have way too much coverage and you might as well be wearing a shoe. The Shimanos were painful to wear after an hour or so. I mean they really hurt the bottoms of my feet. I thought it was just me but came across others expressing the same sort of issue.I use these for commuting but they are really great for touring. Any sandal is better for touring than a shoe. Nothing feels better then the air between your toes when it is warm. When it's cooler, throw on a sock. A good merino wool soak will actually insulate more in a sandal than in a shoe since it won't be compressed. When it's cold and rainy, a sock and an over booty. When it's really cold and or rainy, a sock, seal skinz, then over booty. Also, when sandals do get wet, they dry quickly since they won't get saturated like a shoe. Get your shoes soaked on a tour and they will stay wet until either the weather changes or you find a dryer.Great sandal and great price. I would gladly pay $120 for these (price for the Keens) if I had to.

Good fit and comfortable
I initially wore these to walk the dog to make sure they fit and felt good. Now after several rides at training pace on both my touring and mountain bikes, I can say that I love these. I found them stable and giving a good power transfer to the pedals for casual biking shoes. Longest ride has been in excess of 60 miles on the touring bike with substantial climbs. I love feeling the air on my feet as I ride These are not race shoes, but I find myself considering changing my race bike pedals to SPD so I can use these on training rides. The 43/44 size was perfect for me as I wear size 44 race shoes and size 10 hiking shoes. The ability to adjust or totally release the ankle strap is a real plus. The ONLY (and it's minor) shortcoming for me is the furthest forward strap overlaps its Velcro anchor pad a little when pulled tight. However, it tightens enough for me and has never come loose. One of my best bike accessory purchases.

Not for frequent use.
I bought these to use for commuting and bicycle touring. Use my bicycle everyday and that means taking these on and off several times daily. Very comfortable to either walk or ride in. Being a sandal means your feet stay cool in hot weather. I've added wool socks in cooler weather. The only problem is the velcro straps. Don't hold up to daily use. I'd much prefer laces or a cord system like Keen used to use. Not many choices for cycling sandals these days. These probably are your best bet. I like the covered toe area for protection verses the open toe of the Shimano.
