Interruptions. They're aggravating. Sometimes infuriating. They make us want to tell people what we think of them. But how we handle interruptions actually tell us more about ourselves. The prophet Jonah's existence was interrupted by a call of God that would require a complete change of life. And it scared him enough to make him run in the opposite direction. Yet, what seemed to him to be an unnecessary and useless interruption was really an opportunity for Jonah to be involved in something the likes of which the Old Testament world had never seen before. This interruption was really a divine intervention and it held more adventure and possibility than he could have ever imagined. We, like Jonah, tend to run from interruptions. When major pains and minor problems cause a hiccup in our carefully calculated plans and goals we head in the opposite direction. Who knows what we might be missing by running from what could very well be Godโs means of steering us towards the most magnificent outcome of our lives. Jonah could tell us a story or two. So could you. And so does popular conference speaker and author Priscilla Shirer in this very personal account of opportunities lost and lessons learnedโand the amazing freedom and fulfillment that comes from going with God even when He's going against your grain. Divinely Inspired! A Must Read!
I stumbled upon this book looking for more literature from Priscilla Shirer in my local library's ebook collection. This happened to be the only Shirer book they had. God brought this book to me at just the right time! It ministered to me at exactly the point of need. Shirer's writing is so personal. Her voice is honest and welcoming. God has truly gifted her to minister in the written word. Somehow the sentiments of her heart (of God's heart) come through the pages of her books with such clarity and warmth that you feel as if she is writing a personal letter just to you. It's a fireside chat, coffee with friends, a confidence shared between sisters. What I really appreciate about this book and others that I've read is that it's not a bunch of fluff. The woman has definitely been in the Bible and done her research. Every claim is Biblically sound, making the Word of God accessible and inviting. The last pages left me humbled to tears. God is awesome. Surrender to his will for your life. You won't be disappointed. Read this book!

Life Interrupted: Navigating the Unexpected
I liked how Sister Shirer made a comparison between her life and Jonahโs, as well as another Christians. Itโs refreshing to know that an interruption is a divine calling from God to move us in the direction of his plan. I recommend this book to anyone whoโs running from God or uncertain about their assignment to read this book. I gave a five rate because I believe the book was well written and gave clarity to the heart, love, and discipline for them that are called according to his purpose. And that our trust and obey is vital to those God call.

Enlightening and Inspiring!
Wow! Where do I start? Oh I know. At the end. The best it yet to come! I read this book as part of a 21-day Womenโs Fast during a season my life when my family is preparing to place my 21 year old son with severe intellectual disabilities into a group home. The thought of it still concerns me even as I write this review but I can see glimpses of Godโs divine intervention all throughout this journey. I know that God opened up this door for us because the physical and emotional journey has been overwhelming to say the least BUT God is doing a new thing in our lives and I am encouraged to allow this Life Interruption to bring God all the glory. I trust God that the best is yet to come.

A new perspective
This is the first of Priscilla Shirer's books that I've read. Her writing style is conversational at times and intellectually instructive at others. She includes examples from her own life, making it very personal. But most importantly, she redirected my thinking. That is what I look for in a book devoted to Christian living. To see life's changes as God interventions rather than interruptions shifted and undergirded my belief in His sovereignty. At a time when one is facing big life changes (or even small irritating ones) this truth sustains one. The first chapter is worth the price. I'm so glad Providence bright this book to me at just the right time.

No doubt, God brought this book to me.
I was watching Joyce Meyer on the tv and her guest on the show that day was Priscilla. I listened to her speak and really liked her and what she had to say. I decided to take a look at her book, Life Interrupted. The title spoke to me immediately. You see, that's exactly how I was feeling about MY LIFE!!! I hoped that she could give me the Godly perspective on the things that were going on in my life that I was not enjoying and were mostly causing frustration and anger. Her book did exactly what I hoped it would. And since I need to be reminded of these truths when I fall back into my old thought patterns, I am using the book frequently to remind me how to think and feel about the circumstances of my life that I did not pursue and would like to be released from. I truly believe that this book was God inspired for all of us who are struggling with circumstances we did not want but cannot abdicate. I have a brand-new perspective that I desperately needed. I prayed for help and it came in the form of a book written by a very Godly woman.

Loved this book!!
Definitely a must read! Those times we call things interruptions, keep open, many times they are God-interventions or divine interventions! We can learn so much more from the interruptions in life. Now I keep my mind alert when interruptions happen as I don't want to miss what God really wants for me and this interruption can be Hus way of getting my attention and back on the right track. I highly recommend this book to everyone! Not just women...
