Chicago Kids Training Skates Roller Skate Set

This is a good starter set, if you are not sure your child will be into skating. However, if you have a child who is keen to skate often, I would skip this and go straight to size-adjustable roller blades. The trainer setting is nice but not that much easier than rollerblading to make it a necessary step. My 6-year old switched from trainer to inline within a week, and I feel she would have been fine starting out on inline skates.The wheels are not durable enough to handle outdoor use - they are already showing a lot of wear and tear after only a month of not-too-frequent use. So, I would recommend only using them at indoor rinks.Also, there are only two closure buckles which leaves the boots loose and gaping at the ankle - exactly where it looks like my daughter's feet could use extra support when she's skating.Because the protective gear came as part of the set, my daughter wants to wear it all together, every time. So, indoors or out, she's skating with her full gear on, helmet and all. Only thing is, the set doesn't come with elbow pads, and the advice I've read on skating sites suggests that elbow pads are just as essential as the other pieces of protective gear. So we bought some separately.

The grandkids love them! Well made best skates we have found! Looking to buy one more set for grandkid who didn't wants skates but as they are so cool & other kids love so much now she is going outside & wants to skate as well. Gets them off their butts & outside doing physical activity!

I got these for my 5YO son for Christmas so he is still climbing the learning curve (while his 3YO sister, who received the Fisher Price 1-2-3 first learning skates was able to master them a lot faster). Generally he finds these to be uncomfortable so he doesn't last long skating. However, my biggest complaint is that only one of the 4 buckles actually clicks into place and stays buckled. We have to constantly re-buckle the other ones - which may be one reason that they are difficult to use! The buckles are so cheaply made that I am just waiting for them to break outright. My daughter's skates attach over her shoes using a velcro strap which stays put so I wish that these would have had a "lower tech" but higher quality feature like that. Also - regarding sizing, they do run a bit small. I ordered the 1-4 size after reading the reviews and thinking that my son was a size 11 toddler. I panicked when I measured his foot and found he is still only size 9.5T! While the 1-4 is a little large on him, it isn't extremely large and they are adjustable to a smaller size.

Great deal for the price. This set comes with the trainer skates, helmet, knee pads, wrist pads and bag. The bag is nice, but you have to have everything in it just right in order for it all to fit. This is frustrating for my 5 year old, who can't get it all lined up correctly. The skates are the best part of the bundle. The fit great and seem to be very sturdy. My son is 5, wears a size 11/12 shoe and I got him the size 1-4. They fit fine, with a little room to grow. The helmet and pads are pretty worthless. They seem very thin and cheap. We got these for outdoor roller hockey, so we would have preferred elbow pads to the wrist pads. I'm just not sure how much protection the pads and helmet will provide on the concrete. Overall, the skates alone are worth the cost of this package and we'll be ordering another set for our daughter. The picture is a little misleading...it almost looks like there is pink on the straps. It's not, it is red.

The rollerblades seem sturdy and they are nice. The only problem with mine is that they seem defective or as if they were badly thrown or beat up. I had my daughter try them on and immediately noticed the scratches. It seems as if the plastic was bended, thrown, or could be a manufacture defect. I am returning them hoping to get a good pair. The buckles work well, I was hesitant as some reviews state that the buckles don’t work. Mine seem fine, you have to snap them twice, if you don’t then they wont tighten. I really hope Amazon send me good ones as my daughter really likes them.THIS IS AN UPDATE : The second pair arrived damaged as well. Same ugly marks as if the plastic has been bended. I figure if I am paying $50 plus they at least better be in perfect shape. This second pair also has scratched on the sides, look worst than the first pair. I also returned this second pair and will give it a last try. Amazon was very helpful, is sending someone to pick up the item and did a 2 day delivery as a courtesy for being the second time. We shall see. I hope the third pair arrives in good condition.

My 5 year old begged for a pair of skates because her older sister had a pair. I was reluctant because she is a bit on the clumsy side, but gave in as a borthday present for her. These skates offer great stability with the two wheels in the back and one in the front. She is doing great so far and I am sure that once she masters that level she will be happy to convert them to inline skates. The only down side is that the helmet that comes with this pack is not great...it sounds hollow when you knock on it so my daughter wears her own bike helmet. Also, the backpack bag everything comes in that is supposed to be used for storgae was destroyed before we even got it out of the box. The plastic the pack was made from was so rigid that it cracked and fell apart.

Size was supposed to be 1-4 but they sent the smaller size. Fortunately they fit for Christmas and will for another year I hope. For an adjustable skate, seemed to be comfortable enough in the largest setting to skate for 2 hours.Pads and helmet are a bonus but definitely lower quality. The wrist guards are 90 degree so we didn’t use those.Good buy overall.

Good skates overall, but there are some quality glitches that bugs you: the front flap of the shoe was a little torn, and when skating, the hinge of the ankle on one shoe clicks with every bend ... however, it does the job...

Me gusto mucho el producto, mi niña tiene 6 años y le ajustaron muy bien, seguramente le servirá para 2 años más.

Los devolví, les quedaron grande a la niña, pues no hay tabla comparativa de tallas en las que los patines indican y la que se usa en México.

Muy prácticos para principiantes. Bonitos y buena calidad. A mi nieta de 4 años le encantaron. Le van a durar varios años.

Me gustaron mucho, a mi hija de 3 años le quedaron perfectos, son algo grandes para primerizos por la linea de ruedas pero pronto creo que podrá dominarles.
