Rubber Cal Treadmill Mat

We bought two of these, one to go under a Nordic Track x22 incline treadmill (I mention the brand because this treadmill is a beast, larger dimensions than most home treadmills and very heavy and thus was having a hard time finding an economical solution that wasn’t too small) and the other to go under a home gym, both of which would be resting on hardwood floors. We ended up going with a different solution for the home gym, but the one for the treadmill is excellent. Solid, heavy and doing its job well. The other we actually cut up smaller to use under an elliptical. We had bought another brand (read: cheaper) for it and man, that thing was a piece of junk. These mats are awesome, not super thick but nice and dense. They stay flat too, unlike the cheap one that would not flatten out no matter how much time we gave it.

Man, who wants to pay so much for a mat? Of course, when you look at the cheaper end of things everything is mostly made of garbage. So I bit the bullet and got this one despite some reviews that had me wondering. It all worked out well. The mat arrived in good condition. It was of suitable thickness and really helps control vibration. It gives the treadmill a fairly solid base on the carpet. It did have a bit of a smell, which I would consider normal for this type of product, but it did go away after a few days and was never an issue or noxious.

The mat is decent quality. I only bought one 4'x7' so I didn't care much in symmetry. It's a bit thinner than expected. Had a rubber smell that disappeared within a week. Haven't seen any shedding on this mat. But, I have a NordicTrac treadmill on this mat, and after 6 months there still is quite a large amount of "bounce" in the mat that never went away. That makes the treadmill way less stable. Maybe I need a thicker mat. Seems like it protects my vinyl wood flooring quite well. So, I would recommend it for basic gym rooms or other lighter uses. I expected it to good up better given the price point being higher.

The mat is what else? A rubber mat! But it's perfect if you need a rather larger mat for your gym equipment. The mat is thick as it needs to be, not too heavy nor too light. It works wonders on reducing the transfer of noise and vibration to the downstairs apartment. It's easy to clean and protects your floor rather efficient. The heat produced by the treadmill will not affect this mat and it will not come apart like others do. It's not completely black, as you will see specks of white or other colors all around the mat surface on both sides. It works well over carpet and over other types of flooring (tested the noise reduction capacity by moving the treadmill around the different floors). The price is ok if you can get it to be shipped to you for free.

Arrived quickly and in great shape. Nice packaging. Very good quality, and so far, great durability. I use it under my treadmill and it stays in place and does not curl up. No noticeable smell either, which is a plus. Very good product.

I ordered 2 of these mats as a barrier between home gym equipment and newly-installed hardwood flooring. Both mats were cut asymmetrically. The longer sides are straight, but one has a small chunk missing. The short sides are NOT straight all. One has a big curve cut out, curving inwards as much as 2 inches, the other short side on the same mat was cut at an angle, resulting in one corner being 3 1/2 inches off from the other. I have not measured the other mat yet; the poor cut is still apparent but a little less obvious. I am going to have to trim them myself to get them to properly cover the areas along the walls of the room. I definitely would NOT recommend these mats to any one who needs the size that is advertised in the product description, needs the mat to fit in a corner that is your typical 90 degree angle, and/or wants something that look nice right out of the box without trimming it yourself. The strong odor of rubber tire was somewhat expected, but my rating is primarily due to the lack of product quality and the complete absence of quality control.

It fit well and I'm very pleased with the purchase. I had read the reviews and some mentioned a rubber smell and other did not. I didn't notice it that much when I took it out of the box but it got steadily worse. By the time I realized it was pretty bad, the smell had already permeated half the house so I just left it. In hindsight, it would have been an excellent idea to roll it out in the garage or outside for a couple of days before you bring it in the house. The smell went away in a few days but it might be a problem to those who are really sensitive to odors. I suspect this is characteristic of most mats. Just leave it outside to air for a couple of days to air out and it will be totally fine. Overall, it's a great mat.

I would have given this 2 stars, but it is very durable. This product took 2 weeks to de-gas, it was left outside for one week. The rubber smell was so strong, it was almost unbearable. It is cut crookedly. It does the job and is very durable, but I would not buy this again.

I thought it would be thicker... does not eliminate vibration on my treadmill. My treadmill is located though upstairs on wooden flooring so I don't think it's possible to fully eliminate anyways

I searched Amazon for a RUBBER mat and found this one. It is great. Slip resistant, shock absorbing and fits under my treadmill.

Works great under our treadmill, it was about 6" wider than we needed so I cut it with heavy scissors and now it's perfect. It stunk for a week or so, but it's rubber, so what do you expect?
