Does Exactly What I Needed

This plate allows me to use all my pans that didn't work with my new induction stovetop. This included a large All-Clad copper wok, a clay tangine and other hard to replace cookware. I may have to turn my heat up a bit to get the preferred temp inside the pan but it is controllable. Also, when it appears my stovetop is cooking too hot, I can slide this under a pan to effectively reduce my cooking temp. It's got a solid weight to it and appears very sturdy. I highly recommend it.

I already loved my current pots and pans and grew frustrated that ...

I rent my home and have had an induction stove for over 2 years. Many of my pots and pans, I quickly learned, didn't work on my stove and I had to put them away. I figured out one tip was that if a magnet sticks to a pot, it will work on the induction stove. That made things a little easier when shopping for replacements. However, I already loved my current pots and pans and grew frustrated that I couldn't just use the ones I had. So I searched for what I had hoped someone had already problem-solved and to my excitement, it existed! An induction cooker diffuser! I ordered it online, immediately, and to my anticipation, it worked!!! I was able to dust off my pots/pans and welcome them back into the kitchen. I am very happy with this product. With use, there is some discoloration, though I imagine that is to be expected during the heat transfer. I use this every day and it has worked with all of my pots and pans. While cooking, I sometimes need to turn my larger skillets so that everything cooks evenly, so If there is ever a larger size available, I will purchase that one too!

I can use my pans now!

This product works great. I can use some of my old favorite pans again. The only problem I have with this one is that the handle is not removable. I have two induction cooking devices. I can only use this on one of them because the other one has a lip around it and pans are set inside. the handle on this goes straight across so it wont sit flat in the induction device. if the handle was removeable or had a "step" design it would fit in it. but other than that It works great. Just make sure your device is not one that has a bit of a lip around it that you set the pans into.

Not great for induction

I purchased this to use with my induction burner. I had a set of stainless steel that unfortunately was not magnetic/conductive enough to work with an induction burner. I had hoped that this plate would help. It DOES work, but not very well. If you believe that this thing will heat up and act like a good piece of iron cookware on an induction burner (a 10.5" iron skillet can hit 350 degrees in about 15 seconds on my burner normally) you are fooling yourself. It does not. It may help in a pinch, but heating times are 10x-15x slower than the speed of using true induction cookware on an induction stove and the heat transfer is pretty low. In fact, its probably 5x slower than the speed of a comparable gas burner with my stainless steel set. I love the speed of induction, but if you think you are getting this hoping to use this as a stop-gap from having to buy new pots - you are really fooling yourself. I would recommend you get yourself something highly magnetic like a cast iron skillet instead and really see what induction can do.

Still Working out the Uses

Bought this for a small stainless steel tea kettle too small for my induction burner to work with. My induction burner is an 1800 watt unit by Duxtop. It has a tendency to shut down to 140 degrees when it gets too hot, and that was the case with this diffuser plate. Set it on "10" and put the tea kettle in the middle... heated up rapidly and the water got close to a boil in about 4 minutes (around 16 ounces)... unit shut down to 140 degrees... reset it to 360 degrees... it actually stayed there, but took another 4 minutes to finally boil. I'm going to try some different things to get it to work better, but that's the result of my first effort. It is a large, heavy piece of metal... it takes a l-o-n-g time to cool, which for hot tea is not a bad thing. You could also use it that way to keep something warmed. Boy, that's a long handle! It does not transfer any heat at all that I noticed, which I suppose is the point. Seems to be good quality stainless steel with a solidly riveted handle.

Alas, it doesn't work

I ordered an induction diffuser plate to see if it would allow the induction cooktops to work with the All Clad Copper Core pots and pans I have that are directly incompatible with induction to work to some degree. (All Clad claims that new Copper Core cookware is now induction compatible. So they must have changed the formulation since I bought mine.)The theory is that the diffuser -- a 240 mm-wide stainless steel plate -- gets heated through induction by the cooktop, and the pot gets heated through conduction from the diffuser plate.I tried to boil 1 liter of water in a large All Clad Copper Core sauce pot (270 mm diameter with a 240 mm flat base) on the Duxtop LCD P961LS 1800W induction cooktop. The water got hot, but it failed to boil after more than 12 minutes. (A similar All Clad classic sauce pot boiled the liter of water in 4 minutes 22 seconds.) If the diffuser and Copper Core pot had succeeded in boiling the water it would have represented less than 25% efficiency.I also tried to boil the liter of water in the All Clad Copper Core sauce pot with the diffuser on my IKEA Tillreda 1800W induction cooktop. It resulted in an overheating error.Obviously, the diffuser plate is pretty useless with All Clad Copper Core that is not directly induction compatible.

Works but I have a suggestion for better performance

I read the reviews and had doubts knowing that some reviewers don't think too deeply. We just got an induction stove and didn't realize how many pots would not work; so, I got the 9.5 version of this product. We have two burner sizes and only use this on on the 11 inch burner so far so the efficiency is not there but it works well for what it is.My suggestion: measure your burner size and buy the one that fits that. If you want it for the 11 inch burner, buy the 11 inch version. If you have an 8 inch burner, buy the 8 inch version. They're going to perform much better with a higher efficiency and heat your pots and pans much better. And clean up spills quickly and don't cook them on.
