Never again.
UPDATE: After attempting to reformat my computer myself, I brought it to my friend who has a background in IT. So far, he's tried reformatting it three times, with repeated errors. Essentially, it looks like this is bound to become at $500 paperweight. In conclusion: BUYER BEWARE.I have had nothing but problems with this computer. From the day I purchased it, it's been one issue after another. The power chord stopped working properly the day I received the computer. When I called tech support to see if I could replace it, but while on the phone with them I unplugged it and plugged it back in, and it worked again. I got off the phone, thinking that it solved the issue, but it kept. happening. I had a work around though (unplug, plug back in), so I didn't bother replacing it and continued on my merry way. That was just the beginning. As the months went by, the computer got s-l-o-w. Eventually, it wouldn't even shut down. I called tech support, told them about my issues, and cheerfully asked them if they could send me a replacement computer since mine was covered under warranty.THIS IS IMPORTANT. It was bad of me to not read the details of the warranty (lesson learned), but unsuspecting buyers beware: The warranty only covers free tech support, NOT faulty parts. You can send your computer to them to check the hardware, but not to replace your computer. Unlike with Samsung, who will replace faulty parts.Okay, fine. Annoying, but my fault for not reading the warranty. Thankfully, tech support was able to work with me to fix the issue, and things went smoothly (if still slowly).Flash forward a couple of months. I open my computer, bringing it out of hibernate mode. The screen goes black and I get a "FATAL ERROR" (oh crap) and my computer can't get out of hibernation mode. Me, being not exactly the most tech savvy (I use my computer solely for Google Docs and to download music - legally), do a hard restart. The computer sits in the start screen for a full minute, then cycles back to the HP screen, then back to the start screen. Lather, rinse, repeat. So I call HP again, thinking that I still have another four months on my warranty. Only, after I give them the serial number to my computer, they tell me that my warranty expired in July. They couldn't give me a good reason WHY it expired a solid four months before my year was up, sorry, buh bye now.So, my HP is stuck in a vicious cycle of starting-not starting, and I'm back on my eight year old Dell that actually runs way faster than my HP, but will probably set my house on fire if I keep it on longer than an hour.Never again with the HP. I gave them a shot, and now I'm switching to Lenovo or Samsung.

It is just okay - some parts are not designed all that well.
Pros: I like the brushed metal top case, overall size, and the bottom case comes off with the battery release buttons so installing memory was easy. I like that it has a DVD burner, Windows 7 not 8, and;6 substantial hinges. I also like the speakers on top, not on the bottom so I can hear them better.Cons: I have some issues with the touch pad, while I am typing something, inadvertently touching the touchpad will send the cursor off into a different part of the text I am typing. I am sure I can adjust the sensitivity, but I have not yet done so. The ability to do "gestures" like zooming and shrinking the size of things with the touchpad will probably need to be turned off too. It bothers me when it just interprets movement as gestures and does weird things on it's own. The keyboard is kinda funky too. I am not thrilled with how it feels. I am a computer tech for a living and have experienced many different kinds of keyboards, this one is not great. The placement of the power cord input makes it uncomfortable as a "laptop" actually ON your lap. I do not see a need for an "Internet" button, but it has one, and the "F" keys have such tiny markings, it makes it hard to see where they are, but the symbols for them as function keys are large (Which seems backwards). Also, the up and down keys for scrolling (The ones I use most) are small but the left and right (The ones I use least) are large. Why? No ideal there at all. This one also chose to do 135 windows 7 updates all at once (Before I was able to set the power settings to not shut off during updates...once they started, it was too late to change it, and could not leave it to update by itself, or it would shut down in the middle). It held me captive for 1 1/2 hours when I wanted to go to bed at 11:30 at night, and ended up going to bed at 1:00AM. Then it failed to do all the updates (Twice), I had to do them ;6in smaller batches manually to get them all to work. Not too bad for the money, but not their best work.
