RTG Wood Floor Varnish

The last time I redid a hardwood floor was also my first time. I just bought whatever they told me to at the hardware store and went at it after sanding with a rented tool. It came okay, but with visible thick spots and marks from the applicator. This time, I did a lot of reading and watched a bunch of YT videos before attempting to refinish the red oak hardwood floor in the living room. I liked several things about this product. 1. The bag makes it easy to pour and use. 2. It leveled out nicely without endlessly ‘brushing’ it and left behind NO applicator marks. 3. That soap and water cleaned up the tools and my hands. No nasty solvents necessary. 4. It worked as advertised and created a really smooth finish that’s hard as a rock. It’s interesting how dark the floors used to be and now they have a more ‘beach cottage’ vibe. Much lighter more ‘blonde.’

We really enjoyed the ease of pouring, application and storage of this product. And the results, after three coats, were exactly what we had hoped for - a beautiful sheen, smooth feel and a professional appearance. Our stairs look fantastic and although I can't comment on durability just yet - just applied aa few weeks ago - I'm confident it will hold up. Also, we love the fact that it comes in a plastic pour bag instead of a can. So easy to pour and store with no waste!

Used this in our daughter’s room because it’s low odor and low VOC and she’s really sensitive to smells and fumes. It was so easy to use and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Her field hockey gear hasn’t scratched the floors yet. Giving it 4 stars because it hasn’t been on long enough to test the durability.

The first two coats dried in the hour, the third coat took a little longer. I think that was because it started getting cooler out though. It doesn't show any application marks, goes on thin, low odor and super sheen to it. One bag did 3 coats on 7 steps and I still have a good amount of it left.

Nice floor varnish. Easy to apply and clean up. Self levels when drying. I did 5 coats on a section of refinished oak flooring and it looks great and appears to be holding up well. It is next to my sliding glass door to the deck.

Consistent clear polyurethane finish brings out the lights and darks in the wood grain and looks beautiful with no cloudiness or streaks. Water-based varnish does not add an amber hue to the wood, just a clear finish, which was a plus for me - but be sure that’s what you want. Used on Brazilian cherry floor.

The maple floor in our pantry has taken a beating over the years. We bought this to protect the floor and make it easier to clean. It dried super fast and we were able to use the pantry again quickly. Storage containers and cans didn’t scratch or damage the finish.The pantry was a test area (you know, test in an inconspicuous place first and all) and now we will definitely buy more for use on the kitchen floor.
