Starring Nicholas Lyndhurst, Clive Francis and Michael Percival, The Piglet Files is the sitcom that truly lifts the lid on the shadowy world of espionage during the early '90s - with quite startling results. Electronics lecturer Peter Chapman (Lyndhurst) may have fantasised about a James Bond lifestyle, but disillusion quickly sets in when he finds himself coerced into working for MI5, only to discover his spymasters are a collection of misinformed, bungling incompetents. Nevertheless, as gadgets expert 'Piglet' 'Puma' and 'Panther' were, sadly, already taken - he uses all his skill to combat not only the Soviet agents who are, his bosses are convinced, as active as ever, but a still greater menace: the French secret service! Peter's toughest challenge, however, seems to be dealing with wife Sarah's suspicions about her husband's increasingly strange activities...

Excellent lighthearted series.
I, like many others, missed this when it was originally shown and only recently saw it on UK Gold. These MI5 agents are a total bunch of misfits who could have been trained by Inspector Clouseau. Especially Dexter who makes Trigger, from Only Fools & Horses, seem like Einstein. He gets lost on his way to a map reading, weekend course. Whilst undercover, as a waiter, he sells expensive French wine far too cheaply, for £19.71, assuming it's the price and not the vintage. There are many more mishaps from this bunch of misfits which makes this series well worth watching.

Quite Funny, With Quirky Characters
I liked this series very much. While not quite up to the brilliant standards of Nicholas Lyndhurst's later "Goodbye Sweetheart," TPF offers amusing situations and quirky recurring characters - - especially Drummond (Clive Francis) and Dexter (Michael Percival). I would describe it as an ensemble comedy, and that genre can usually be counted upon for plenty of laughs. Occasionally (about once an episode), there is a laugh-out-loud moment with inspired writing. Otherwise, the chuckles are milder but still enjoyable. Personally, I would be happy to spend any half-hour staring at the cutie who plays "Flint." (Does anyone know whether Louise Catt has appeared in any other telly or cinema? Nothing else is listed for her on IMDb.) Try "The Piglet Files." I think you will be glad that you did, provided you are not expecting a profound classic.

One of Lyndhurst's finest sitcoms
I'm a big fan of Nicholas Lyndhurst, I love him in After you've gone and Only fools and horses but there's something about this sitcom that I really like. The first series is terribly funny especially 'The Ice Man Cometh'. I have to admit though my favourite series is the second and I really hope the network release that onto DVD. I would be so grateful (and if they released 2point4 children) The Piglet Files is an enjoyable sitcom.

Piglet Rocks!
Have been waiting for this to come out for some time, only watched a couple of episodes a long time ago and wanted more. Nicholas Lyndhurst has moved on from OFAH's and in this series He get's to play SPY!! One can only hope the real world of of spy verse spy doesn't happen quite like this, it's a laugh and not letting His wife find out what He now does all day is part of it, 007 He's not!!

Has its moments
The piglet files is about an electronics expert Peter Chapman who is hired by the security services for missions. He assists the spies despite having to put up with their ridiculous incompetence which varies from observing the wrong house to having to accommodate a fugitive in his house without his wife knowing. There are some dramatic moments such as a Russian spy escaping in the boot of a Ford Granada but the programmes are lacklustre and would be greatly improved if Peter and the spies achieved their missions by accident.

Enjoyable show.
Really great sitcom from the nineties. Doesn't get enough praise.
