Truly honest review of this timepiece
For the price, this watch is great if you need something cheap to wear every day and not have to worry about damage. If it breaks, it's cheap enough so you don't feel bad. It works totally fine, the date functions works when you realize that it knows the difference between AM and PM, so set it accordingly and test it out before you deem it a non-working feature. For those who expect a waterproof watch, I'd recommend looking elsewhere and paying a little extra for that because this watch doesn't seem like it would handle water too well. I always take it off before washing hands or showering and for those who complain about having to do that, once again, looks elsewhere and spend more than $50. The strap is regular length so if you've got giant wrists, you might wanna look for a longer strap. Don't complain about it if you don't do any research prior to purchasing. The watch works fairly well, although I haven't had it for that long so I will try and keep this post updated sometime down the line. And finally for all those who are whining about the clock ticking too loud, suck it up and get over it. It's what a watch does and if you cannot appreciate that, don't bother spending the money. Recommend this to anyone who wants a watch they can wear every day, although don't put it through too much stress or it will break. It's not the strongest by far but it works well for me.

Wow. Perfect summer watch!
Wow. After finding this gem, I read most of all the reviews here and ordered it.1. The watch itself looks way better than the picture.2. The band. I got this watch because of the rubber band. This band is so smooth and soft. If you know G-Shock bands, this is way way smoother than those. And I believe this watch cost justifies itself just for the band.3. Watch is light. Very light and not too thick. You have to look at it yourself.4. Ticking sound====> I own (as of now) 4 Timex's and wear them all regularly. If you own a Timex, this one ticks just as loud as those. Yes, it bothers me when I'm in quiet place or try to sleep but this is not louder than other Timex's. So if you know the loudness of regular Timex, then, there shouldn't be any surprises regarding the sound.5. I bought this for the summer. Hot/humid, and I get into water a lot (pools). So not sure if this is going to fog up (like some other reviewer said).So far I'm very satisfied with the look, weight, and (most importantly) how the band looks and feels. By this just for the sake of the band. You won't regret.

keeping good time. The second one purchased in'14 was a ...
I have three Timex Expeditions, this is the latest purchase. I have beat up the first one (purchased in '12) thru work, swimming and travel and it is still ticking, keeping good time. The second one purchased in'14 was a little nicer than the first Expedition and it goes most places (in the water too) other than work and keeps on ticking. The T49940 was purchased to replace a rather expensice Seiko that has not wprked very well and did not keep on ticking. I found the T49940 to be as advertised and pleased with my purchase. These are not expensive wrist watches, however mine have not failed me, they look good, are easy to use and just keep on ticking, keep the correct time.

I have to agree with all the 5 star reviews. This watch is easy to tell time day or night and for the price this watch to me is a no brainer.Love the style and it is very light on the wrist. This is a great value and a great watch.

Band too short, watch performance TBD.
Have not been able to wear this as yet, as the band is too short for my wrist (my wrist measures 8/1-2 in circumference)--watch companies and Amazon should indicate the band measurements in listings. So this will add another 30-40% to the cost of the watch and make it much less of a value. Watch is about what I expected, very lightweight, no frills, looks rugged but I would be unlikely to take out in the woods or for heavy work outside. Had stopped wearing a watch for few years, but wanted something simple for everyday--this will probably work once I get a band that fits. Hope the movement works, or I will not be happy. Green face is not very luminous, and the band is actually well made.

Great watch for the great outdoors!!
Another great and very inexpensive watch from Timex. My only beef is that the bezel, which is very visible, almost prominent, does not rotate! This is typical with many Timex models, and I'm sure that it's directly related to price. But a bezel that looks this nice should be a working one, in my opinion. Brings the rating down to four instead of five stars. HOWEVER---the watch, like all my Timex's, is accurate to a "T". The face is very easy to read at a quick glance, thanks to the nice contrast between the black dial and white hands and numbers. The watch looks and is rugged, and I'm not afraid to get it wet. The camo-style strap is a nice touch and lends to the "outdoorsy" feel of the watch. The movement is a little noisy, and you WILL notice the sound of it ticking. Personally I like the sound of a ticking watch, though when I was younger I hated it, and so can understand why some people find it objectionable. All in all, I would recommend this watch without hesitation.

Rugged looking, outstanding watch
Purchased the watch because I liked the "outdoorsy" looks. When it arrived I could see what a nice looking timepiece it really is. Light and very comfortable, nice band that is not hot and does not cause your wrist to sweat. Only certified for 50 meters however if I am 150 feet under water my watch will not be my main concern..!! So far I love the watch, I will post again in a year and discuss the reliability and durability of the watch. I am a Timex fan, Im sure it will be a great piece.....A+++

CHEAP, not in a good way.
Cheap and cheaply built. Indiglo function failed after first week. Sent it in and they tried to charge me $12 to fix it. (they sent watch back with a bill, I didn't pay) Poor customer service. On month three now and suddenly the minute hand just swings around, unattached to its mount. Expected more from this company and from reading other reviews. Questioning this brand.

I'm really lovin' this watch
Awesome! I really like this watch. It's probably my 4th or 5th Timex. The calfskin band is very comfortable and watch is easily readable in any conditions. Some reviews mention that the face is actually green and not black as in the photos. This is true, but under some conditions the green appears almost black. It looks great in green, though IMHO.
