Toshiba Canvio Premium (Mac) 2TB Portable External Hard Drive 2.5 Inch USB 3.0 - Dark Grey - HDTW120EBMCA

My last Toshiba external drive gave up the ghost after some many years, so it goes. I did some research and eventually went for a 4TB Seagate. Big mistake. Wasted a couple of hours trying to mount the thing and failed. If you are considering a Seagate item, do be aware of the problems many users have. Anyway, I returned it. Decided to go with what I knew and ordered the Toshiba Canvio. Arrived very quickly and within a few minutes I was checking it out. With the Seagate, everything was greyed out, it wouldn't mount. With the Toshiba, everything clicked and within minutes I was undertaking a backup. This is what an external disc drive should do. I'm very pleased with the item and will be staying with Tosh in future. Lesson learned.

After 1 year usages, I have no error or complaint about the file system or the HDD errors. Contrast to Seagate Cheapest External drive, Toshiba has impact sensor and slow down the harddrive to prevent any damage. My Seagate 4 Tb has bad sectors right after 1 year, it was isolated and Seatools did a good job fixing it but some files already corrupted and unrecoverable.I will update my review after 2 years and 3 years. My first Toshiba external drive was from 2005 40Gb HDD, it still runs fine without any bad sector.

Not used it yet but I’ve used Toshiba before and it was and is still a reliable external drive.
