Reading some of the reviews on this have me scratching my head.It's a WEIGHTED BLANKET. It's going to be heavy. What was being expected of this? Do people who buy lawnmowers complain that "GOSH DARN IT THIS THING MOWS THE GRASS WAY TOO WELL!" You betcha, that's what lawnmowers do. It's in the name. Likewise, weighted blankets are heavy. It's in the name.Bought this for my girlfriend, she loves the weight and comfort and security of lots of blankets but didn't actually want 12 blankets on her. This was a solution for one blanket plus the weight she likes. All the weight, none of the bulk. Particularly good for when I'm off on away missions and not sleeping there myself.It's also quite warm, which my girlfriend considers a bonus. Maybe too warm for some people. If you're getting this to have the warmth of only one blanket while having the weight of several, this may not be a good choice. If you're thinking about getting a heated mattress pad or electric blanket AND a weighted blanket, try just the weighted blanket first. You may not need the heated stuff.Definitely get the washable cover, especially if you let critters on the bed, and ESPECIALLY if those critters can go outside too. Animals inside at all and muddy paw prints on the bed are NOT my idea of a good time, but that's the girlfriend's thing.Tip to you young gamers out there just setting up shop with your partner for the first time: There are some battles you lose even if you "win." A lot of that stuff, you're really better off just living with the toilet seat down or toast crumbs in the butter or whatever. Your partner will do the same for you plenty too, think about that the next time you leave your socks on the floor and boots in the walkway or whatever. This was one of those times and we have cat hair and occasionally muddy paw prints on the bed. She doesn't complain when I come in from the shop and reek of diesel fuel. Score.Anyway, definitely get the cover. You don't want to launder the actual weighted part any more than you have to, if at all. Save wear and tear on your laundry equipment and on the blanket.Five stars, would order again.

I’m a 29-yr-old female and for my entire life I have slept fitfully. It takes me 2 hours to fall asleep once I’m in my bed. I wake up on the hour and it takes me 20+ minutes to fall back to sleep. On top of that, I have anxiety and I worry all the time, so my sleep is affected by that as well. I came across these weighted blankets but hesitated getting them because they’re a bit expensive.I’ve even had tests done to see why I can’t sleep and doctors don’t know.I decided to buy one, and boy am I glad I did! I got the 15 lb blanket as recommended by the weight chart (I’m 5’7” 123 lbs and wanted one a bit on the heavier side).It knocks me out faster than I’ve ever experienced and it keeps me asleep longer than ever before.On days when my anxiety leaves me crippled emotionally, I curl up with this blanket on the couch and it helps so much! Helps me relax and just calm down.It comes with a cloth, zip carrying case, too, in case you want to take it on trips.I share it with my boyfriend whose anxiety is just as bad and it also helps him a lot. He’s almost 100 lbs heavier than I am though so it doesn’t feel quite as heavy for him as it feels for me when it’s spread over me.Highly recommend!September 2018 Update:A couple months later, I can safely say this blanket is still helping. I don’t sleep as well without it. It’s very comforting to have the weight on top of you - helps me relax and unwind a lot better. I decided to see a doctor for my anxiety - I have General Anxiety Disorder and most of my anxiety focuses around constantly fearing that bad things are about to happen, as well as sometimes crippling hypochondria. In combination with prescription medicine and this blanket, I feel so much better while trying to relax my mind at night!March 2019 update:The only con to this blanket is that those prone to night sweats might find themselves suffering a bit more. Because the blanket is weighted, naturally it keeps heat in more - I’ve found that when my hormones are acting up, the blanket causes my night sweats to worsen. I’ll wake up with very damp pajamas compared to when I don’t use it during similar times. Small price to pay, still worth it in my mind.

I have used it 4 nights and I will continue to use it. I have slept soundly (entering the dream state) every night and fall asleep a little quicker.It does feel good to be under the blanket, the weight is evenly distributed so it isn't like the 15 pounds of blanket is all focused on the body.For those who think it would be too hot, I stay warm but not hot. I have ordered a 2nd weighted blanket, which is an all-season material (bamboo). I will use it in the summer - I won't know if this will work out until summer.I can't speak to individuals with claustrophobic or anxiety concerns. I do think if you have a chance to sleep under a weighted blanket, maybe try it for a few nights. I found it comforting, similar to be tucked in at night.If you order one you may want to order a duvet cover designed for the size you buy. Multiple colors are available from different vendors. It's suggested you buy based on your body weight. Also from from research - I suggest you buy blankets with the glass beads, not the plastic beads. The beads are sewn into the pockets with soft poly-foam which keeps the beads/weight from shifting in the pockets.Hope this answers a lot of questions - keep in mind these are just my opinion.
