Yoga Direct Extra Wide Yoga Mat

I absolutely love this mat. I use it in my home studio, and it is thick enough for comfort on hardwood floors, sticky enough to hold its place and hold yoga poses.I am broad shoulder and Curvy, as well as being 5'-10" tall, so this mat fits me better and does not make me feel like I'm half on the floor like I do with my yoga studios mats.Ready for immediate use right out of the box.Would really love to find a carrying bag for oversized mats, but that isn't a con for the mat.This mat is highly recommended.

I love the extra wide and long size to this mat. But I have to "condition" it as soon as I got it. I washed it with a soapy cloth. Rinsed. Then did a water/vinegar/tea tree oil mixture and sprayed it down with it. Then sprayed it clean in the back yard. Then let it sit out in the sun to dry for a few hours so that my hands and feet wouldn't slip when I sweat a little. I hate the feel of microfiber towels people use on yoga mats. So, I have to have a non slip yoga mat. I can say after "treating it" with this method it isn't as slippery. I'm content though because like I said - I love the size of it so much. In fact I wish I could get an even BIGGER one someday.

Why is it so slick ?I love the size, but compared with my old yoga mat, this one is extremely slick and slippery under my hands and feet. I can barely do downward dog or mountain climbers, etc. Why would a yoga company not address this flaw? I've just read through 80+ comments to get some ideas on how to make it tackier, and saw 2 that said to use vinegar-- I guess I'm in a grouchy mood, because my immediate reaction is, well, great, something else to add to my list of things to do. It's like having to resew buttons that are already falling off a new blouse. New products, unless they come with a warning, should just be ready to use right out of the wrapper!

I have now owned two of these mats and love them! I use them for a mixture of when I’m doing strength training, stretching, and yoga. I love that it’s extra wide so I can do any stretches, it’s nice and thick and padded so I don’t just feel like I’m laying on the floor but it also doesn’t feel like some sort of weird squishy foam mattress.The material is super durable and the price is right!

Great for my home practice. I don't use powder and it grips well for the most part, as long as I don't forget and use lotion before hand. :) I doesn't lay completely flat, but close. I just put my block on the end. I clean it after with a quick spray and wipe of half water, half vinegar.

Very nice sturdy mat. Thick enough without being too cushy. I like the width as I found myself feeling like I didn't have enough room on a regular sized mat. With the extra size comes extra weight, so something to consider if you have a carry it a distance. It will be slick when you get it. I have washed mine with a laundry detergent (HE for less suds) using a soft brush. If it's still slick on next use, I'll use a diluted vinegar solution. Sometimes it just takes some use to wear that outer slick layer off. Also, really like the purple color.

I really don't like yoga. I do it for P90X. This mat makes it livable. Mats purchased locally are all to narrow and to short. I am only just six foot, so I cannot imagine using a regular mat being taller. The only down side was the original smell. It did stink. But we just left it unrolled for a few days, smell pretty much gone. Mat is not to thick that you feel that your sinking into it. Nor is it to thin, so that your knees are pressing through to the ground. Just right. Not a big fan of the color, but so what.

At 5'10" I have just enough room to lie down or stretch my legs without running out of mat. Plenty of room when I turn sideways, too. The grip is good, the thickness just right and there's no weird chemical smell. I've used thicker mats that were not more comfortable though much heavier. This is the Baby Bear mat: just right.

I purchase this mat because of the additional width which most yoga mats do not have. It allows me to practice my Nei Gong stretches while keeping my joints protected from my hardwood floor. There is some off-gassing but that disappears after a few days. This mat seems well made, nonslip and hopefully will last a long time.

I am a 6’1 male and the regular mats were just not wide enough. This one did the trick, I have lots of room and there is still room for my girlfriends mat in the living room so we can practice together! Ha. The texture is great and the density is just right. I highly recommend for you tall people or wider bodies.

I wanted a wider yoga mat.. for a dude. Well, this is a nice and wide mat that my arms actually fit onto for most poses. It is plain, no fancy, nothing crazy. But its wide and works. And it's a thicker material so the comfort is spot on. This is what I bought it for, so 5 stars.If you want a fancy material or fancy patterns etc. This will not be it. If you want a nice wide and thick mat, its perfect.

Very good large size mat for the price. It was very slippery at first, and difficult to roll but it is getting much better now.The size is definitely large, but still portable enough to go from the office to the gym at lunch breaks. The thickness is also the perfect amount of cushion, not too much but not like some of the much thinner mats available.

This mat is the perfect thickness and size for me. The price is truly great for the quality of the product. We will be buying another one for my husband.
