Nice product but the alarm isn't as loud as they claim but it will not stop until you stop it so it will wake you

Bought this December 2015. I wanted a clock which I could read at night. We have a digital clock on my wife's side of the bed which I can see, but it means sitting up. Who wants to do that when they're snug in bed? My problem was I've no bedside table or handy socket on my side. The clock has to go on a chest of drawers almost a metre away. With no power point battery power seemed the ideal. The clock has a number of poor reviews, but with an overall 4star rating I thought I'd try it, and over 12 months later I'm glad I did. It was easily set up. Once the battery was in it was up and running. It lights up very clearly at night, and the light is controlled by a sensor so during the day it switches off. Having this lighting facility made me dubious as to how long it would be before I needed to replace the 3 AA cells it uses. I needn't have worried. They have just died after just over 12 months continuous use. That's still relatively expensive I suppose, as I'd expect an ordinary clock to run for that time on a single cell. I still think it's worth it though for the convenience. It would be easy to switch the lighting facility off in the morning and on again at bedtime, so the light does not come on in the evening. This would probably lead to a reasonable saving, but I wonder if it's worth the effort. The only problem for me is that I'm shortsighted, and to give me any chance of reading it I have to have it as close as possible to me on the chest of drawers, but I can hardly blame the clock for my deficient eye sight. One way the design could be improved for myopic folk like me would be to make the hands solid, rather than cut out. So for me this clock is almost perfect. From the negative reviews it would seem there may be some problems with quality control, but fortunately I seem to have got a good one, and from the overall 4 star rating most are good, so it's worth a chance if you're looking for a clock like this.

Having had a Nokia mobile phone that used to wake me up brilliantly, i then changed to a Blackberry mobile phone and had problems accidentally switching the alarm off on waking, so having overslept twice ironically i now needed to go out and get a proper alarm clock - this Sweeper Alarm Clock silver was the third different one i tried. It isn't bad and its much easier to set and double check than a digital alarm clock equivalent (where being half asleep on setting the alarm time i accidentally confused the wake up and actual times when setting the alarm) so i needed a really fail-safe and easy to use alarm clock and this does the job. A few points however to consider: 1) It is not silent - you can hear the second hand sweeping around - why on earth they have this second hand on there i have no idea - i'm hardly going to use the alarm clock to time myself doing anything (remove it! is my suggestion and then the sweeper noise will hopefully go too!) and 2) the green light** that emits from the whole of the clock face is actually quite bright (dull but bright if that makes any sense, a kind of radio active green light(lol))- so this light is ideal if you want to clearly be able to see the time but not ideal if you want your bedroom kept as dark as possible. Now to counteract both these problems i wear an eye mask to stop seeing the light and i have a white noise machine to conteract the sweeping hand noise (i should say i did have both of these in use before the new alarm clock arrived! lol) - **UPDATE: having just read someone else's review - you can actually turn this green backlight off and you'll just see it when you press the snooze/light button (or you can have it on full time) just found the sensor button for it right now! Phew!!! 3) One more thing is that it has a snooze facility of only 5 minutes - i would like a five and ten minute snooze option if it were possible. 4) The clock is also quite plasticy (not specifically classy) but is just a silver plastic looking alarm clock - not particularly a bad look..... but it just won't add any class/attractiveness to your bedroom Would i buy the clock again? well if i found another similar clock that was silent and wasn't brightly(but dully) lit then No, but if nothing else was available then Yes i would buy it again. I don't think you'll be disappointed in the clock as its harmless but if you are very audio or light sensitive then maybe try it out and return it if not suitable or shop around elsewhere. I think i read somewhere that the design/colour of this alarm clock may change slightly, periodically - so check in the description if it gives any indication of varying in its description.... Acctim 14112 Europa Alarm Clock is one clock which I would recommend to all those who want a smallish clock but yet one which is very easily seen from the side of your bed. Even in the dark you are fit to see the time as the main hands of the clock iluminate, but what makes this clock perfect for me with a small tap on a long silver button on top of the full clock face lights up via a small bulb positioned within the side of the clock face which makes the full clock light up and I can see the time easily without leaving the comfort of my bed. The alarm which is set using the small dial at the back of the clock, this small dial also sets the time by the simple act of pulling the dial out simply and very easily. The actual alarm is turned on with a sliding button on the right hand side of the clock and then turned off when sounded giving a tap of the long silver button on top of the clock which is very easy to find when not quite awake!!! The pressing of the long silver button provides the 'snooze' alarm until you are fully awake to actually retrieve the clock and switch the alarm off properly using the button positioned on the side. The actual noise of the alarm could be described as a beeping noise and it really does the job it is designed to do. What makes this clock pure perfection for me... it does not tick, infact the only noise it makes is the noise I only want to hear from it is the alarm which is adequate for me to waken when required. I would highly recommend this clock for anyone who wants a time piece which does not light up the room which also has a sweeping second hand and tells the time perfectly. P.S. the AA batteries are not provided within the clear shiny plastic packaging the clock comes in.

What's the use of an alarm clock where the alarm goes off at random times but not at the set time? I bought the Acctim Sweeper Analogue Alarm Clock as a Christmas present to my fiancé. After 2 months she's had to stop using it as the alarm is so inaccurate and unreliable. I contacted Acctim through the Amazon UK website and they've not bothered to reply. The clock in my opinion is unmarketable and the supplier is unresponsive - a case of 'we've got your money so don't bother us?' The irony is she choose this clock as a replacement for an old Acctim Sweeper Analogue Alarm Clock she'd had for several years that had given good service. The new one being so unreliable has therefore been a huge disappointment but doing business with a company that doesn't even have the courtesy to respond is beyond the pale. If after reading this review you still go ahead and purchase one good luck. I'm sure if yours proves reliable you'll be satisfied but if you have a problem don't waste your time trying to get the supplier to remedy your problem, they can't be bothered.

I have been very satisfied with this illuminated dial alarm clock. The entire face lights up at night (feature may be switched off). Alarm starts slowly and ratchets up to a very loud electronic ring that should wake almost anyone, who is not totally deaf. This is a 12 hour clock and uses batteries to run. It has a sweep second hand, and is totally quiet in normal use (no ticking). The face is very large and viewable from a very wide angle. 4 controls: knob to change the time; set the alarm; turn the night light on or off; and the alarm set feature. The alarm clock also has a snooze button on the top, which does dual duty: to mute the alarm for 5 minutes before ringing again (not user adjustable) and to increase the dial illumination to maximum (useful in a totally dark room, where maximum readability is required.) Highly recommended at this price point.

I wanted a new alarm clock as I am a bit deaf and my old clock wasn't waking me up, my husband would kick me to turn it off! This one is perfect , it gradually gets louder but I can usually hear it as soon as it goes off but it's not one of those that gives you a heart attack because it is so loud. It doesn't tick, so if you don't like any sound in the room then it's great. It has a clever face that lights up as it gets dark and goes off as it gets light, you can turn that off if you don't want a glowing clock. You can press the top of the clock to light up the face to see the time in the dark. It's quite a large clock - about 4" high, has very clear, easy to read numbers - great for anyone a bit short sighted. It feels well made and it very easy to set the time and alarm using a button to turn on the back of the clock - much better than my previous digital clock that needed a book to explain how to set it up! Would definitely recommend this clock.

Wanted an alarm clock that was silent with an illuminated face. Even better because with this one you can switch the light off if you want to. Down side for me is if I have to switch the alarm off from my side of the bed I struggle to get tot he button as it is at the back but apart from that my husband loves it and it was a gift for him! Now having had this clock for 18 months it is not as good as it was. The illuminated face is dull during the night which means you can't see the dial. Not much if you want to see the time when dark. A great pity as it is otherwise a perfect clock.

Îch kaufte den Wecker, der folgende Kriteren erfüllen sollte: - kein Funkwecker - lautlos - mit Batterie betrieben - Snooze-Funktion - einfache Handhabung Er erfüllte die Punkte. Ich war begeistert. Die Nachtbeleuchtung kam mir mit der Zeit sehr hell vor, so schaltete ich sie ab. Solange man die obere Taste drückt ist das Zifferblatt beleuchtet. Die Zeit kann man auch schlaftrunken sofort klar ablesen. Nach 2 Monaten geht der Wecker noch auf die Minute genau. Der Wecker ist ziemlich tief und damit kein zierlicher Wecker, was mich nicht stört. Nun die Schwächen. Nach dem 10. Gebrauch wurde ich in der Frühe nicht geweckt, obwohl ich den Wecker "scharf" geschalten hatte. Ich fand heraus, dass der Schalter nach oben gedrückt werden muss, dann den Schalter loslassen und nochmals nach oben drücken. OK, so funktionierte er wieder tadellos. Dann nach 2 Monaten, ich packte ihn im Hotel in die Reisetasche. Abends im anderem Hotel ausgepackt und auf den Nachttisch getellt. War war das? Der Wecker ist seitdem nicht mehr lautlos. Ein zartes "dog" - etwa 3 - 4 mal pro Sekunde ist seitdem zu hören. Der Wecker muss schon gut einen Meter entfernt sein, um ihn nicht mehr zu hören. Er muss weiter auf die Reisen und seine Dienste verrichten, aber schade, dass er so schnell verschleißt. Nachtrag vom 23.06.2016: Wenn man etwas Weiches (z. B. ein oder zwei neue Papiertaschentücher) unter den Wecker legt, dann ist er deutlich leiser.

Nice looking and simple to operate clock. So far it is keeping accurate time.

lo he comprado para mi madre. Le encanta. Las agujas son lumisniscentes, así se ven en la oscuridad. El tono de la alarma son cuatro pips intermitentes que se van repitiendo. El sonido no es ascendente, así que desde el principio es bastante alto,pero a mi madre le parece bien así. Al apagar por la parte superior se enciende una luz interna y suena al cabo de un rato. Si lo quieres apagar del todo es por una pestañita lateral. Lo recomiendo. Es bonito. Viene sin pilas.

Dieser Wecker ist sehr leise, das war mir besonders wichtig. Er ist auch nachts ohne Brille gut lesbar und der "Lichtschalter" ist oben. Das waren die Kaufoptionen. Der Artikel ist also zu empfehlen. Zusätzliche Pluspunkte sind das formschöne Aussehen und die Standfestigkeit.
