In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

Great shoes! They seem to fit a little small, but I'm not complaining. They fit like a glove -- a durable, lightweight glove.
I wear size 11 1/2 in street shoes. In ASICs, I'm usually 12 1/2. The shoes seem to fit me, and my initial fitting was by a running shoe store with impressive equipment, including video analysis and more. These shoes have been my standard since I started running 3 years ago. This is my 4thpair. There have been changes of model, but I always get the 1000 series. These have good support, comfort, and breatheability, and they have been recommended to me year after year as good for countering my tendency to rotate inward, toward the arch, as I run (overpronate; hyperpronate). Technical analyses (please check them) say that they have a stiffened area under the arch for precisely that purpose. For people like me, who need an additional benefit, the insole (adequately arched for most people) is removable so that orthotics can be inserted. They don't wear out; I just follow a plan of rotation after a year or so. I probably don't do more than 400 miles in a year, though, so I hardly ever see any sign of wear in these.

An excellent shoe especially for people with big, wide feet.
I struggled for literally the past year with plantar fasciitis. I am a big, tall person with big, wide feet. I've struggled to find shoes that are responsive, supportive, without being sponge pillows. The New Balance shoes aren't working for me anymore. On a whim, I tried the Asics. These are excellent. I wear a size 14 6E, or 15 4E. These are perfectly sized in the width. The toebox is a little narrow for my liking but nothing I cannot tolerate. You can get a nice firm support from them, and I had no issues with my foot pain acting up. I'm very pleased. Also, and I don't know why shoe makers do this, just because I have big feet doesn't mean I want something that looks like a nursing home velcro shoe. I don't eat mechanical soft food at a 4pm dinner so why do I need shoes that look like I should have a walker? These have a decent aesthetic to them.

Decent Support from Good Quality Athletic Shoes
I bought a pair of these locally, so as they were wearing out, I ordered a pair of the same size on Amazon. They take a day or two to break in and then are reasonably comfortable. I take out the inserts and add better ones to all the shoes I buy (New Balance Pressure Relief, which were recommended by my foot doctor). Like many shoes nowadays, these come with shoelaces that are too short if you want to use that extra hole, which I do, so I had to order longer laces.Overall, these are good shoes for everyday wear. I will probably buy another pair once these wear out. When my old pair wore out, it was just the support that wore out. The outside of the shoes still looked great and they did not come apart or get all gross inside or anything like that. Like all athletic shoes, they have a time period in which they provide support and then you need to buy a new pair. These did that pretty well.

Super light weight, excellent breathability, nice arch support, highly recommend.
My son is a runner and he really loves these shoes. We have two pair of these exact same shoes that he rotates with Nike's and another pair of Saucony running shoes. He has a high arch and finds these provide a lot of support. They fit well in the heel without being too rigid and have never caused any blistering at all. The toe box is not too snug. He runs on track/cement and off-road/trails with no complaints. As a mom, I recommend these these 100%. He honestly wears out the soles before the top of the shoe looks worn. The laces are high quality and do not come untied easily. They breathe well and keep his feet cool/dry. I think he likes these particular shoes more than any of the others he's currently using so I keep buying them, in a half size larger, so as his foot grows he'll still have his favorite running shoes. They are the lightest out of all the brands he is currently running in, so if you're looking for a running shoe that is super light weight these will not disappoint.

Great shoe but order larger than usual
I am a runner with flat feet who overpronates. I was looking for a shoe that was lightweight and comfortable enough to wear all day while providing the support my feet need. This shoe is perfect. It has just enough support to let me wear them without orthotics while not tiring my feet like many other over-supportive shoes tend to do. The material is great for warm weather running - I'm running in humid 80+ degree weather and my feet are not overheating. This is the best running shoe I have purchased.I do have to agree with other reviewers though about the fit of this model vs. other Asics. I have been wearing Asics for the past several years, and this model definitely is shorter and narrower than other Asics offerings. I normally wear size 12, but after reading other reviews I ordered a 12.5 EE which fits perfect. So to echo other reviewers - order a half size larger and one width wider than you usually do.

Comfy!
When I first got them, the area around the topmost lace eyelet (just next to the top of the tongue) was too stiff, and dug into my ankle a bit, but after wearing them about 6-10 times, they got broken in and proved really comfortable. I'm an overpronator and don't run, these are just my everyday shoes. I've been wearing Brooks Addiction since the 7th model, but I didn't like the Addiction 11 as much, so I wanted to try something new. Compared to the Brooks Addiction, these feel thinner under the ball, but overall very good.

Asic GT1000-3
I was a little worried the first run I took with them. Felt a little inflexible and left heel hurt some. But each subsequent run has felt much better. I guess they needed a break in period. The stability has been great as I have a pronation problem which these shoes handle quite well. The toe box fit is fine, the arch and heel fit are very good. I find the fit after the toe box to the midfoot a little narrow. Hopefully it will loosen up a bit as they are broken in a little more. Cushioing feels good. As of now I am satisfied with these Asic's and hope they feel better with age.........

Not what they used to be
The first pair of ASICS I ever bought lasted more than 10 years, this pair of ASICS not so much. After just two months, my toe was poking through the front of the shoe. Considering what I paid for them they should last a lot longer. The quality doesn’t seem to be what it once was. I was disappointed.

flimsy vamp
Vamp is made of sponge wrapped in fabric mesh that can be quickly worn out if a toe is pointing up or outward.
