Red River Cereal - Creamy Cracked Wheat and Rye Hot Cereal (908g x 1 Pack)

My family loves this cereal but it is no longer sold anywhere near us, maybe no where in the U.S. It’s got flax seed and cracked rye, and is delicious. Expensive but worth it for us.

It is a great hot cereal. I orginally had it while on a fishing trip in Canada. Loved it ever since. You have to cook it, and that takes time, but well worth the effort.

Expensive but a treat

My Mom used to make this for us years ago, but then it dropped off the grocery shelves in the US. Recently, I was watching a video of a chef in Canada, and he was extoling the virtues of Red River. So I checked here on Amazon, and behold... there it was. I bought it, and it is so good. Just as I remembered it. Just one cautionary note if you buy this cereal: Use a VERY LARGE cooking vessel. Think 4-5 times the volume of dry cereal. This cereal will boil over in smaller containers. I ended up making 6 servings in a 6-quart crockpot, and that worked well. It just took longer.

Heartier than oatmeal and much more flavorful.

So delicious and healthy! And there's really nothing else like the consistency of there. We really missed this now that we're not in Canada anymore.. but man, this is crazy expensive. We won't be able to buy it regularly for that reason.

Great way to start every morning!!

Very hard to find now even though it's wholly Canadian made. So happy to have some now. Some people were complaining that it's not the exact cereal but it is. Exact same ingredients except for it's ground a little bit more than the original. This light grinding of the grain actually makes it better for you. If you crack open flax, wheat and rye slightly, it releases all the nutrients and digests better in the gut. So this newer version is much healthier for you. Tastes the same, so delicious. It still has a nice grainy texture and it's way better for you now that the grains are cracked! An excellent product. A Real Canadian stable!!

Excellentes céréales chaudes pour déjeuner. Ajoutez des morceaux de pommes et de bananes à la cuisson pour plus de saveur et de nutriments. Délicieuses avec du sirop d'érable (pour plus de sucré), accompagnées de toasts. Pour une consistance moins épaisse, Ajoutez-y di lait de soya ou autre.

This stuff is not easy to find. Good price.

I was so glad to see my old favourite was back, but was worried it might taste different being made by a different company. I need not have worried because it’s perfect. Tasty and nutritious, tastes like my childhood ☺️
