The beauty of the lights is matched only by utter horror of their smell
The lights are gorgeous and seem to work perfectly. However, they have a very strong, absolutely horrible smell to them. Bad enough to prevent me from using them indoors, in spite of my relatively poor sense of smell. The smell seems to come from the epoxy/plastic material that the manufacturer has used to protect the LED's.I can tell you that the lights are definitely waterproof because I tried soaking them in soapy water for an hour to get rid of the smell. They still worked perfectly afterward, but they also still smelled just as bad.I tried airing them out on my porch for 24 hours, but that didn't help either.I then looked up the other lights from this brand (WESIRI), and found that the seller's other WS2811 LED's have similar reviews regarding their smell. One review said the smell was still there after 45 days.These might be acceptable for an outdoor application where you won't notice the smell, but indoors you will definitely want to pick lights from a different brand. Honestly, I feel a bit ill after working with these for just 45 minutes indoors.
