Edited review after using for a month.I rated this tablet a 3 since it does what I bought it for (but just barely) so it isn't complete trash but it's close.Buy only if you know exactly what you want from this very, very low powered Android 4.0.4 (ICS) unrootable tablet. It's decent for showing text pages, comics, Youtube*, &.....2D prawn I guess....G. R. Fulton is correct that this does fail at the basics. I'm also seriously wondering what sort of apps the people who positively rated this tablet use on their tablets (maybe they're using it as a coaster to take advantage of it's water resistance? /s).*Youtube works but it's slow (with noticeable stuttering of moving images even on 100Mbps Wifi, the stuttering is due to the tablet's weak hardware)....I'd rather pull out my phone/laptop/desktop and play videos on those instead. Also don't even dream of opening multiple tabs on your chosen web browser, this tablet cannot handle even two tabs (had KUSC streaming in the back & a text only webnovel in the front and it would crash the browser....this was after I force stopped all the bloatware I could stop to free up as much RAM as possible.)I bought this tablet for the sole purpose of ~~passing butter~~ showing a single google sheets page so I could see edit progress in real time.The plan was to tether this tablet to my phone's wifi & simply view the document on the tablet's larger screen). Hilariously it failed at that (Google Sheets needs Kit Kat 4.4.0 minimum, this 4.0.4 (ICS) Android is too low to run google sheets properly.) This meant it could only show a view only version of the Google Sheet on a web browser which has to be manually refreshed which is good enough for me. Also hilariously google constantly sends a popup notification to download the Google Sheets app if I want to edit (which again, this tablet is incompatible with).0) Changing language to English is easy for anyone familiar with Android. Unlock tablet --> Press clock --> press wrench icon to expand icons --> Press wrench icon for Settings --> scroll down till you see the giant A icon (language & input) --> First choice on the right --> Select English.1) It's forever stuck on ICS (Android 4.0.4) & CANNOT BE UPGRADED. This means several apps are incompatible with this tablet (Such as Google Sheets which is what I bought this for, although I managed to find a barely usable workaround.)2) Although it's listed as 1 GB of RAM that's not entirely true due to all the bloatware it comes it. In practice IT HAS LESS USABLE RAM than my Republic Wireless 1st gen Moto E (which also comes with 1 GB of RAM but has less intrusive bloatware). My P-08D shows 659 total RAM (289 used/370 free while I have my web browser on) The numerous Do-crap-mo apps will constantly creep up and eat RAM in the back (like dmarket and the docomo palate UI apps) even after force stopping them..3) IT CANNOT BE ROOTED (none of the one click root programs I've attempted was able to root this device, kingroot, vroot, etc. Those programs can recognize the device but will always fail to root the P-08D. I scoured the XDA forums and as far as I could tell this is not rootable). For laypeople: The bloatware cannot be removed.4) Install CM browser (Chome and Firefox are too taxing on this tablet based on personal experience. Firefox extensions/addons largely don't work & is too taxing on the tablet while Chrome is oddly taxing for a browser that doesn't even allow addons (chrome would crash when loading reddit with javascript....Not even my Moto E does that). Although personally I prefer Firefox for android browsers since I can install Ublock origin on them, this tablet can't handle it (4.0.4 doesn't allow for Firefox 57 and it simply doesn't have the resources to run addons properly).5) Webpages constantly fail to load regardless of browser (Chrome, Firefox, CM).....& it's not like I'm trying to load resource heavy webpages like flash games or whatever, just webnovels on NovelUpdates & simple desktop version of Reddit (desktop version is less taxing than the mobile version & doesn't try to pester you to use the reddit mobile app). This is while I'm connected to Wifi so it's not like it's due to a poor connection.6) Edit: Not sure if mine is defective but plugging into charge the tablet directly does not work while the tablet is on. (Have to use the dock) I know the port is functional since it charges via the port if the tablet is turned off. Not really a problem since I just pop it into the dock while I sleep._________________________What I am using this tablet for:1) Chrome Remote Desktop actually works decently enough with this tablet. I remote into my PC & use this tablet while in the bathtub where I wouldn't feel bad even if I dropped it into the water, unlike my phone/laptop/etc. Performance is much, much better if used this way (If your PC is Win10 then you can set it to Tablet mode which actually works decently with Chrome Remote). Of course that assumes you have a spare PC/laptop to use in this manner....2) Viewing the read-only version of the aforementioned Google Sheets while outside. Hilariously it's faster to view said sheet by remoting into my PC than it is to wait for this tablet to open the sheet on its own....However remoting in while outside uses significantly more wi-fi data.3) Reading webnovels, better to read it on the larger screen than on my phone's screen.

This tablet is well made tablet with a good solid feel to it. Works great! Contrary to what I've heard other people say about this tablet, the only real problem with this tablet is that it had an older version of Android operating system and I don't think it can be upgraded. What this means (for those of you who may not know) Google has stopped supporting this version of Android and there are certain apps that may not work on this tablet. You can still download most apps but there may be some main stream apps that may not work. Things like Microsoft office products will not work, you get a message in the Google Play store saying "your device is not compatible with this app." Other than the fact that this tablet has an older version of Android OS I would say its an excellent tablet, runs relatively fast, long battery life on a full charge, display quality is excellent. I only bought this tablet mostly to read my kindle books on and the Amazon Kindle App DOES work on this device so I am happy.

This tablet requires some hard work from a dedicated user to get it working okay. It is an aging tablet that in it's glory days was a well made, quality machine. Now the Icecream Sandwich Operating System is too old and no longer supported by Firefox, Google Chrome and many apps. And the RAM will only support a few modern apps before it overloads. You need to have a very limited number of applications if you want it to work.As you can tell from other reviews it requires some work from the user and even then you need to be gentle on it. I have looked at trying to install a more recent Android operating system but it seems it is too obscure and no one else on the internet has published any software to achieve this. And I doubt whether there is enough RAM anyway.I have ended up just using mine for internet browsing (Google Chrome) and Netflix. After that it starts to run out of puff. Maybe it is okay for a few simple games for a child but if you have children I doubt whether you have the time to set this up right anyway.Sadly, I would have to say, look elsewhere, this tablet is getting too old and too hard for most people. You are better coughing up some more cash and getting a more modern tablet.

So far, I like it. Just got it and it seems sturdy and I needed waterproof. However, EVERYTHING is in Japanese. Manuals included. Also warranty card. Don't even know which is the warranty card or how to fill out or where to send it. There is a PDF site I found online(297 pages) to download that I am using, but if I did not have another computer, I would not be able to use this product. I feel that Amazon should note this in there ad for this tablet because it is very time consuming to start up and I would have chosen something else had I known about the language situation.

Everyone complaining about the instructions being in Japanese needs to start reading descriptions before buying stuff. It says in several places that this is the Japanese version with Japanese instructions and some pre-installed Japanese apps. The seller posted a link to the English instruction manual, but honestly I didn't need it. It comes with a charger that works with American outlets, and the same symbol that's on other electronics shows which cover to remove to get to the charging port. I charged it, turned out on, and most the opening screens were in both Japanese and English. Then there's a drop down menu to select a language. Couldn't have been easier. I just got it so haven't done much with it, but it's easy to uninstall/delete the Japanese apps and install ones you want from the Google Play store. The sound and video quality seem good. I like that it comes with a stand. For $60, I'm really happy with it.

REV1: 製品としては大満足。特にお風呂で。DIGAと連携してTV・ビデオを視る、RADIKO/RAZIKOでラジオや語学、KINDLEなどで読書、ついでに子供向けにアニメや童話など。防水性能をフルに活かして活用できます。さすがに少しスピードが遅いと感じる時もありますが、お風呂や寝床でノンビリ楽しむには全く支障ありません。お勧めです。ついでに、IIJのSIMは3Gで問題なく動作します。開封して、付属品が全く付いていないことに驚きました。充電器も卓上スタンド、取説も無い本体単体です。USBで充電できるし、取説もダウンロードできますが、一般的には困ると思いますので購入者への十分な説明責任があると思います。

本体のみでしたが、携帯の線が使えるので、問題ありませんでした。せっかくの防水ですが、電波が弱いのか お風呂でテレビは 見られません。

全録ディーガ購入したのに伴い、専用のお風呂再生機として役立っています。それ以外の用途には使っていません。
