Columbia River Knife & Tool Hammond Cruiser Folding Knife with Black Partially Serrated Blade and OD Green Zytel Handles

I purchased the following folding knives and did a review on them. I was looking for something $40 or less that can be used as a general utility knife while overlanding/camping. I don't intend to use the knife for hunting. These reviews are solely based on inspection of the knife in person. No cutting or durability tests were performed. Gerber company. Includes case.- Cons: The serration if you look closely takes up more than 50% of the blade. For my usage that was too much. No secondary lock. Lock release mechanism is on the backside rather than the typical spot under the blade. A little tough to push at times. Too much weight towards knife.Harnds Knife (2nd place):- Pros: Big, good value for how much knife you get. Secondary locking mechanism. Big blade big knife, seems heavy duty. Good handle. Includes case.- Cons: Too heavy for my usage. I am looking for a utility knife. This knife seems more purposed for heavy duty applications. $15 more than the other two knives. Other than that, pretty solid.Columbia River Knife (Winner)- Pros: Great size. Handle, weight, and balance, all feels great. It was the only knife with an EZ out flip switch on the handle (top side in addition to thumb knob). Secondary locking mechanism. Cheapest of the three knives. Good serration size.- Cons: Does not include case. Some reviews questioned durability over time.Summary: My brother and I both concluded the CR knife won hands down without consideration of price. It is also the cheapest option, so I can buy a replacement if this ever breaks. Feels fantastic and can't wait to use it.

Hammond Cruiser is the best $20 knife on the market. I've been using it for almost a decade, have been through many (because I abuse them) and always keep at least two on hand. Blade is very sharp from factory, the grips are probaly the best I've ever seen on a folder, and the double locking mechanism has probably saved my fingers on more than one occasion. I own many CRKT knives but this has a special place in my heart.

The knife is great, blade is centered and razor sharp. Handle is kinda thick.. Grippy as all get out too.. As a survival knife or an EDC i love it.. Until I need to pull it fast out of my pocket .. Then i think about finding a different handle design to edc. .. It snags somewhat due to the imprint grip design.. Maybe I will just melt down the grip under the clip area..

It's worth mentioning the size of the knife, as the blade length measurement doesn't quite communicate it. This is probably not the best for an everyday carry if EDC to you means pocket carry. I love having it in my day bag as it's definitely a great multi-use knife to have. But know that it's a hefty carry, which might be an asset or liability depending on your use. For the price, it's a great value.

Great knife for the money. It's OD Green so it's also tacti-cool. Bought as a gift but have a few of these.

Bit on the heavy side but works great. Easy to clean and if you loose it your not mad like you would be with a 200 dollar knife!

No expert but seem very strong to me. Its a robust knife,not a really little piece which I like. Great service.
