Complete Transformation!
As the nights started dropping, I quickly realised that the yellowing, cloudy headlamps of my old Mazda 5 weren't just unsightly, but they were making night-time driving something of a liability. I had a few options. Replace the headlights (at about £120 each!), have them professionally repolished (at considerable cost), or buy a kit and try and do the job myself. A trawl through google pointed me in the direction of this Philips product - and I was swayed by their guarantee that the UV protection would last at least two years. The kit itself has all you need to tackle the job (give yourself about an hour on a dry day), though the polishing clothes and sandpaper are fairly small (and it would be wise to have additional kitchen or absorbant toilet roll to hand to help mop up). Also, you will need some sort of tape (not supplied) to mask off the paintwork around each headlamp to avoid accidently scratching bodywork. The product is easy to use, and there are plenty of good tutorials on YouTube to guide you along if you need them.I was extremely impressed with the end results, and you can view the 'before/after' images in the photos I have uploaded. I would highly recommend this product to anyone. And it's a very reasonable price too!Ps. If you're inclined to use the much lauded toothpaste and/or baking soda technique to get the same results, don't bother. All you will do (at best) is remove the last of the deteriorating UV protection layer on your headlamps and they will yellow up and become dreadful in a matter of weeks. Stick to a product that has been designed for the purpose!

A good restoration and protectant product
This kit is all that's really needed to restore polycarbonate headlamp lenses. Lamps in very poor condition do take a bit of rubbing to get through the discoloured lacquer and possibly even some yellowing of the lens itself. Be aware though that once the protective lacquer is removed, the lens will require regular treatment of UV filtering sealant (supplied). I think monthly re-treatment of sealant would be wise though. The kit works well enough and if doing both headlamps together and masking the paintwork, I'd say it takes 45 minutes.Since doing it, I improved things further using a machine polisher with G3 then G10 (not the retail stuff though). Also, buffing the pre-treatment and sealant with a soft microfibre cloth is better than the supplied rag. I also think there are better sealants for paintwork on the market though but that said, I think the sealant may be layer-able, similar to the acrylic based Carlack/Werkstat/Klasse which is the stuff a headlamp restoration company in Florida uses.Whatever the specifics, I've noticed no subsequent yellowing since applying it to endure one of GB's best summers in years. As a final point, the Philips headlamp bulbs I use produce an even sharper beam pattern now.

What a transformation!
My headlights were in very poor condition, and I bought this kit because the price seemed right, I trust the Philips brand and I don't possess a drill! I found the kit very easy to use, but make sure you do watch the You Tube video from the USA and play it repeatedly while you're doing the work, because the enclosed diagrammatic instructions are a little sparse and vague. You will need to put in a little elbow grease and allow a good hour for both lights. Preparation and time allowed are important, as with any job. I'm amazed at the results, because my 16 year old xenons are now a revelation; the quality and distribution of light is now incredible in comparison to before treatment. Highly recommended.

Really good restorer
Well after reading loads of different reviews from lots of people and watching countless of videos I decided to take the plunge and buy this after all I needed something I could do nice and simple no machines needed. And boy is this easy to do (all you need is a bit of elbow grease and your away) the instructions are not that clear that come with it but there is a video online that is a lot clearer from Philips. You get 3 different grades of sandpaper 3 tubs 1. A prep 2. Polish 3. Shiner some blue cloths (small) and two white cloths all I can say using this kit everything is small but just enough to do both lights. All in all did a good job and took about an hour to do both. Oh and you get gloves with this kit please use them because of the stuff your using.
