Great for helping kids become more empathetic and aware!
This is a great way to help people, especially kids, understand concepts related to diverse abilities and illnesses, and how to be more inclusive to everyone in our communities. I work in the DEI space, but sometimes have a hard time with how to translate concepts of inclusion and allyship into language appropriate for my three elementary-school-aged kids. This card deck does just that: has kid-accessible definitions for concepts like "mobility", "chronic", "recovery" and dozens more. It also has question prompts to open up conversation on the concepts. Using a card deck makes it seem more fun to my kids (and less like mom teaching a lesson). The QR codes that link to "Heroes" is a great addition -- we appreciated reading how people would describe their conditions to a child and how they impact their lives. Plus, my kids just think QR codes are cool, so that feature made them really interested in the cards! I already owned the 52 Essential Conversations deck and found that to be a great way to open our family up to conversations that would otherwise feel tricky to start. This is another great product from this company!

Medically-oriented
To be honest, I don't know what exactly I was expecting with this deck. I have a set of the coping skill cards from this same company and I love them, so I had high hopes that these would also just mesh with what I do. I'm not saying this deck is bad--in fact, it's probably great if you're working with kids in that middle age range (8-12). The deck primary consists of definition cards and little prompts that ask the reader/user to reflect on that concept. It's very basic and a pretty limited vocabulary list if we're trying to be inclusive and use person-first language; there is a definite leaning towards language related those with biomedical disabilities. It has a couple cards encouraging the user to then use the cards to educate others, be an "ally" and engage in "advocacy"---all good things!--but falls short of being useful and inclusive of the type of inclusive language my adults clients could really benefit from.

Useful for a lifetime
Easy to use for teaching important life lessons. They're also valuable reminders of strengths and resilience. I pull out a couple of cards at a time to remind my family to be grateful for our lives and understand other peopleโs perspectives. We all need reminders for how to be a better person and how to best support others. Will use this for a lifetime.

Not what was advertised
Disappointed. Bought this after being satisfied with the Relationship skills cards. This set is not helpful for working with adults.

Great questions for starting conversations!
I ordered this to use with my partner and my son, DIL, and grandson; I wish for my grandson to grow up in a world where empathy, compassion, and inclusiveness aren't seen as weaknesses like my parents and my MIL and FIL do. And the best way to make that world happen is for him to learn early that different doesn't mean lesser or incapable, just that other people have different challenges in their lives, and then work to teach our friends and families the same. It may not work with some people with firmly-entrenched beliefs who won't even discuss this subject, but I believe this deck has useful conversation-starting questions for anyone whose mind isn't totally closed. The cards themselves are playing-card sized, and marked with the standard 4 suits, so they can be used as a playing card deck as well when the inclusion lessons have been learned. Each has either a description of a lifestyle factor that often needs inclusion, from mobility to balance to blindness and anxiety, or a couple of conversation-starter questions about that particular factor. They're printed on sturdy cardstock and have a glossy coating, and the box is sturdy enough to tuck in a pocket when heading to a workshop or family gathering.

I like the cards, but...
I received these cards, and I really like them. I love the message on the cards. The cards come in two sets. The challenge for me is i did not understand the instructions or how to use the cards, but I will still be able to find a creative way to use them, and that is why I like them. Each card has a word on it, and one card has the definition of the word, and the other card tells how to apply that word. That is why I love the cards so much. I gave four stars just because I did not feel the instructions were clear enough, but other than that I actually love the cards, and would recommend the cards. I think the cards are great for teachers, therapist, mental health providers, parents etc. The could be used as ice breakers, used when talking about diversity, and inclusion. These cards would be a great stocking stuffer Christmas which is right around the corner. Also all the cards have a scan code on them so you can learn more about the topic on the card which is very cool.

Great concept, but the actual definitions fall a little short
I love the idea of having an educational stack of cards sitting in an office while you wait, but I was a little disappointed with this particular set. The creators go thought the alphabet and define words like abled, balanced, chronic, emergency, etc. on each card in the deck. I don't think trying to follow the alphabet is the best approach to any field of study. For example, "numb" is their selection for "n." Shouldn't "neurodiversity" be in there?? I think it would be better to use as many of the most important terms related to inclusion as possible rather than trying to hit every letter of the alphabet once. With that said, I am pro-education and the concept of having a set of educational cards about a particular field is a neat idea.
