This the worst beef jerkys I have ever had and trust me I have had alot. I am definitely a jerky lover. I have order a few other brands of jerky from amazon and loved them. I ordered the Cajun flavor I'm a big fan of spicy. Unfortunately all I could really taste was an overpowering salty soy sauce/steal .The jerky was extremely tough I mean to the point where it's barely even consumable. I took out one piece and after that I was done my mouth my jaw my teeth literally hurt because of how hard and how tough it is. I couldint even chew it just had to swallo the pice. maybe they sent me an old batch but I'm not sure. Why on earth would they be putting out a product like this. And to top it off you could tell it's definitely stale, bye the look, smell, and trying to chew it. I would compare this to the treats I give my dog. I'm hoping that maybe I just got a bad batch. I am very disappointed and upset that I did not receive the product that your company was representing. I hope the situation can be rectified or elts i will not be a returning customer.

My first review was deleted. Product is complete trash and no better than a stale slim jim with fatty hot hot sauce on it. No quality control and clearly focused on sales vs a quality product. Do not order if you like hot or quality.Update: So my review no covers the Barren Creek Sweet BBQ, Cajon, and Hot. My wife and I love jerky. We regularly buy in bulk online to try new flavors and different proteins. All we are looking for is quality meat, freshness, and fun flavors. We ordered Barren because it sounded like a family business that really cared about it product. We have no issue paying above market prices if the quality is there.Honestly, the product is so inconsistent. Each bag was tossed out after the first piece because it was either dry as a bone, fatty, no flavor, poor flavor, or not as advertised. If you have standards, please pass on the entire Barren Creek product line. Try another brand. Don't let them take advantage of you.

I bought this in the hope that I would find a well flavoured and lightly chewable jerky. What I got was meat so tough, I felt like I was gnawing on GrandPa's boots! Because I am a fair minded soul, I offered some to my 26 year old son and a neighbour. My son and I are real jerky lovers. He took one bite and I stood there watching him trying to chew the thing down to where he could finally swallow it! When he did, I offered him more. He shook his head and said he didn't want any more bull hide to eat. My neighbour took one bite and handed it back to me. Shook his head and said "it's not edible".I hate writing negative reviews. And I have had homemade jerky since my 20's, as my mother in law had a big jerky box and made her own, with beef and venison. Sun dried for days, it was never tough and stringy like this is. You can taste some pepper, but the need to chew so hard, in order not to choke, prevents you from even trying to taste its flavorings. If they can get it to be more tender, i would be willing to buy it again and hopefully give it a very high review. Sorry, this jerky needs some work!

I received this 2 weeks after the expiration date on the bag and for jerky thats hella old. this should be sold as shingles or tree bark. moisture content 0%.I'm seriously giving it to my dog for rawhide chips..He thinks he hit the jackpot...What happened?

This review is primarily for the "Extreme fire" flavor variety. Some flavors may be the same in other varieties, don't know. I expect they are all similar in consistency and dryness.I rated it a 3 because of a couple things I don't like, but you may like those properties. For one, it is VERY dry, like almost crunch dry. I prefer tender jerky or at least a little moisture left in it. This was even kind of rough on the roof of my mouth. It is very hard to chew. Second, it has a bit of a pungent smell/taste that I didn't find pleasing. Kind of a skunky thing. Not spoiled or anything, just and odd smell and flavor that seemed kind of off to me.The heat level on this is very high. I order the hottest wings possible everywhere I go, and love habaneros. This had me sweating. That's neither good nor bad, just up to your personal heat preference. The chile flavors were very good though.

I have ordered this twice, the first time based on reviews and these awesome photos they have. The second time was just out of a lack of options, and the bag sat nearly untouched afterward because I found it pretty mediocre. I've since gone to a local store that sells their own "cowboy" style jerky and I'm now sure what I've been missing. Huge flavor and that dry by fall, apart meat is what I look for. This jerky doesn't quite deliver for me on the taste or the meat. It's still good though, better than you can get at a grocery store and most liquor stores, but if you haven options I'd encourage you to explore. This may be one of the best on Amazon, but I think most of what is sold here is quite lacking. This may be one of your best options unless you find a dedicated source like "house of jerky" brand if you can find it, or a local source.

I feel like I ordered this before and it was good but this time it was really super dry and old. I want to order it again to see if that bad pack was an anomaly, but I am scared to be disappointed again. I'll probably still do it anyway though. I feel bad about the bad review because i'm 80% sure I ordered from these guys on my buddy's account and it was great. I hope if i order from the amazon warehouse again, it wont just dig me one that's even older.*changing this from 1 star to 5 because i ordered again and did not experience the same fate.
