please advise if the compressor is loud or silent running

I guess loud is a subjective word. I'm a mechanical engineer, and have experienced Many degrees of loudness. Considering the small horsepower rating, and the fact that the air is released far from the observer, I would consider the pump to be fairly loud. I installed mine in a homemade acoustical enclosure to quiet it down a bit. Part of the issue is the vibration that's transmitted through to the structure it's sitting on. Mine is currently on the deck in front of my home, about 20 feet from where I'm sitting. I can hear it clearly with the TV on. The vibration wiggles the bird feeders that are mounted on the deck handrails. I'll be moving it to a position underneath the deck soon, which should help a lot. It is anything but silent. This in not a criticism, it's just physics. When I design a machine that requires a low vacuum, I  use a regenerative air pump to reduce the nuisance noise in an industrial environment.

How far away from the pond can this unit be installed?

The air line that comes with the unit is fairly long.  I don't remember the exact length, but I have my compressor running in a small building about 50 feet away from the side of my pond, and the aerator itself is about 100 feet from the edge.  I just dug a shallow trench to lay the air hose in from the building to the water's edge.

How much electricity do this unit draw?

I measured it with a Kill-A-Watt meter: 1.85 A and 215 watts. My system is pumping against about 6 feet of water... I'd expect the power consumption to be related to the water depth, but probably not drastically.   Pete

how do you put the diffuser on bottom of pond with out it tipping over on it side?

You have fill the bottom with wieght then put it in the water diffuser pointed upward let weighted compartment fill with water then release it will sink diffuser up.
