Brilliant , I had 3 Jam 2 and this was to replace one that the puppy wrecked. So glad I stuck with Jam.Sound is great, great in a room, garden or by the pool. We take these on holiday and people are always amazed at the sound level.This new one with the led disco lights is a nice touch and they can be switched off.I'm a bit of an electronic entertainment snob but this make has been a great shot at the unknown.

I used to own a jam speaker before, and trusted the brand was reputable from my previous experiences. however this is not the case. speaker is just an expensive cheap speaker with no quality. this specific model is poor

It comes in a simple plastic outer, neatly packaged with no awkward parts to wrestle your way into. There is a small blue box fitted into the base section which contains a short USB charge lead and a multi-lingual guide sheet. You don’t really need the guide as it’s all pretty self-explanatory.Powering up the speaker using the power button on the underside, it presents itself for pairing. Once paired with a phone and you select some audio to play, it just goes about its business. The single top-mounted speaker presents a nice - if fairly bright sound. Given its diminutive stature, the clarity is actually quite good to my ears. Ramp it up to maximum beans and it distorts a bit, but on the whole I was pleasantly surprised at what it could put out. There is little bass to speak of, but that doesn’t surprise me for such a thing.There is a 3.5mm aux socket should you wish to plug anything in, although there is no cable provided to do this. Primarily this speaker is meant for simple bluetooth audio streaming and that is it.There are a smattering of controls on one side of the speaker, but they are quite subtle in appearance. They are slightly embossed so you can feel for them, but you have to look carefully to figure out what they are before committing. I think it might have been more practical to have these arranged round the top perhaps, as you’d be able to see them more clearly. The buttons control play/pause, LED light function, and a plus and minus button that operate volume and track progress depending whether you press or hold down the buttons. This is all nice handy stuff. The LED light can be turned off, or on, or cycled through a couple of effects - one being a sort of transition of colours, the other appearing to pulse and react to the music. Take your pick which you prefer - but the options are quite limited.Overall, this is a nice simple little speaker with an added LED effect. The build quality appears fine, and the functionality is good. Audio quality is better than i was expecting, but then I wasn’t expecting much. I think it would be have been nice to have had more accessible and clearer controls, and waterproofing might have been handy as portable speakers can end up anywhere. For a price of £29.99 (at time of review) that seems ok value.
