Pretty much what I wanted
I bought this for a living room uplighter. Originally, I had a 300W bulb in there, but I was going to switch to a 150W one for reduced power consumption, and because they just kept blowing anyway.Instead, I decided to try out this little 10W number, and am pretty happy with the result. So, cons first:1. It's much deeper than the picture makes it look; you need about 1cm clearance between the contacts and the original reflector. It didn't fit on an uplighter I had in the office, but was fine in the one at home I actually wanted it for. It had some little rubber sleeves on the mounting which needed removing to fit, but was perfect after that. So, although it worked perfectly for me, the con is that you really need to be lucky with your fitting I think.2. Like almost all LED lights, it's not dimmable, but I'm using the uplighter as my main room light so not an issue for me. You'd want some lamps for mood lighting though.3. It certainly does not give the warm halogen glow of the original bulb - but it's a nice daylight feel, and certainly has no blue tinge. If our walls were a warmer colour it'd probably be even better.Pros:1. Power consumption - I have one of those current power usage meters, and 10W is spot on. Hardly takes anything.2. I think the colour is both a pro and a con - it really is a nice daylight colour, just don't expect warm tugnsten. Having said that, the 1 star it loses is because I'd prefer a little bit warmer.3. Given the rate at which my recent bulbs purchases have been blowing, it'll only need to last 6 months to pay for itself, but we'll have to see there. But at the price of the halogen tubes, 12 quid is actually pretty good.4. Runs cool.5. Brightness - okay, it's not as bright as the 300W tubes I was using, but I was expecting that switching to a 150W equivalent, and it fills my smallish lounge with a perfect base level of illumination - I was very pleasantly surprised because I was a bit pessimistic about that. I reckon with an uplighter in two opposite corners you could probably illuminate a 20' lounge - and that's still only 20W in total. I saw another reviewer estimate that *two* of them would be as bright as an 80W bulb; well, I don't know if they got a dodgy one, but this single one is *significantly* brighter than a 40W bulb. I actually have a 40W uplighter lamp in the lounge, and the difference is between dim moodlighting in one corner and full illumination across the whole room.I'm very happy with it, and I think I'm going to replace all the halogen spots with LED ones as they are currently taking 150W per room.Oh, another commenter posted a con that it doesn't point down and therefore the reflector is wasted; this is actually NOT a con. The reflector is there purely because the tube bulbs are omnidirectional - it's to reflect light that is being wasted downwards back up again, and in fact losing some energy in the process. The fact that all the LEDs point upwards is actually a pro, because it means all the light is going in the right direction to begin with.

Pretty good and very economical security light replacement
With a tiny 10W consumption this lamp is not as bright as the 300W bulb it replaced but it's certainly good enough for my purposes. It lights instantly of course being LED and has a good spread. This was a test purchase and I have just ordered another one for my other PIR lamp. Many reviewers have commented on the size with consequent problems with fitting, and it would be useful if more detailed dimensions could be added to the online description. The overall length and depth are supplied, but what is not so clear is that the bulb is quite bulky AT THE BACK of its casing. Most security lights have a parabolic reflector designed to reflect the light from the back of the bulb outwards. For this purpose the ideal location for the bulb is at the focus of the reflector, which is very close to its maximum curvature at the back. Because of this the new bulb wouldn't just replace the old one. But then I realised that this new LED fitting only gives out light at the front, so in this case the reflector is pointless. So I simply removed the reflector and the bulb fitted perfectly. If the outside casing of your lamp is bigger at the back than needed to house the reflector you can probably do the same.

A loose fit
I got this 10W LED bulb because I suspect that the original 500W lamp was contributing quite a bit to the electric bill. (Cats setting off the floodlight.) The item arrived in good time and in a reasonable amount of packaging. Going by the appearance of the box, I think someone has had it before me and returned it. The lamp is a much looser fit on the floodlight mounting contacts than the original halogen lamp. It took quite a bit of moving it around before I got it to come on. That makes me wonder about the future reliablity of the set up: maybe the wind will cause it to become disconnected continually. However it seems to be OK so far, about 1 week later. I am actually pleasantly surprised about its brightness, I was expecting it to be much dimmer than the original lamp, but it lights up the back garden quite well. It IS dimmer, but it makes quite a reasonable floodlight for security purposes.

Just not bright enough
I tried this in a free standing uplighter and the light from this device is just nowhere near as bright as the original tungsten filament bulbs it claims to replace. It works o.k., with virtually instant on, and it fits the bulb holder o.k. but it just isn't bright enough. It saves a lot of energy though, so might be a good idea in some installations where presence of light is more important than quantity of light. "Mood lighting" maybe. The other problem with the design of this bulb is that there are no LEDs on the underside, so the reflector in the light you fit it in does nothing, it relies on forward light from the LEDs on the face.I think perhaps two of these next to each other might be as bright as an 80W halogen bulb. You can get the fittings, so I might try converting the uplighter to take two bulbs...

Save yourself some money, dont bother with this.
Very short life, failed prematurely, look for a well known name and try to get it at the best lowest price possible

Too bright for indoors
Good delivery time. After reading the reviews I thought this would be ok for a wall light in the house (my wife buys these things - style over practicality) but it required a halogen bulb. So, these days I only buy led so I searched about and came up with this after some reviewers stated it was not that bright and they had used them indoors. I fitted it, no problems, turned it on and nearly burned out my retinas and still had a blob on my vision about 5 mins later. I'll be using this bulb somewhere outside in the future where it will be more suited. Back to looking for a low wattage led halogen replacement for me! This is a good product..used in the right place.
