This is a durable and strong hinge, that is curved to fit on the 18 WSM. Carefully drill the holes, the fasteners included here hold the plates attached securely to the body of the WSM.

The hinge does the job, very lose in the hinge so it's not as stout of a hold as I would of liked but not the big of deal i would give the hinge 4 out of 5 stars. Biggest negative and the reason for my review is the bolts. The give u a few extra and ur going to need them. Mine bent and stripped and now I have two bolts that need to be cut out to be removed because they are completely welded to the nut and stripped. I am a electrician. I use bolts and nuts every day and these are some of the worst quality hardware I've used. The Philips striped put on them while I was hand tightening and the nut wouldn't come off when I tried to remove it with a impact. I would just say make sure u hand tighten these to lessen the chance of complete destruction of the bolts. Steal literally chipped away out of the Philips head from hand tightening.

This is a question every weber smokey mountain owner has asked at some point in their life. I always end up looking like a fool trying to find a place for my lid. I hate putting it on the floor - as it picks up sand/dust/grass/dirt etc.I also don't have a table nearby to place it. This eliminates that problem by holding it for you. Installation is tricky with this. I had to watch several (I mean DOZENS) of videos to figure out exactly how to do it. There are prescribed steps that one must take to ensure that you don't damage your smoker. Things like having high temp paint beforehand, and a center punch, and using masking tape - lots of great tips abound on the interwebs. I watched every single one I can find, and spent the time to take notes and gathered everyone's tips, to prepare myself to do this.Then I set out to get started. Just make sure you measure your holes correctly with the hinge. Also - you need a vice - to curve it a bit more to conform to the shape of the 18.5" unit - looks like this was meant specifically for the curve of the 22.5" But it's not awful, one can manage.

Very disappointed. The bracket does not snugly fit. If I drill the holes and screw this in it probably would hold fine, but I’m not willing to risk dimpling the sheet metal and potentially causing the grill to warp. Definitely returning this.

A nice upgrade for the WSM. The hinge is easy to install with basic tools. Not having to worry about where to set down a hot lid while you are checking your meat is a relief. This upgrade also reduces the amount of time it takes to close your smoker back up when you do have to open it for whatever reason.

I have the 18" WSM and was super excited to get this. Issue is, nothing is very flush as i try to line it up. Nothing is flat, gaps between everything. I dont think I will risk installing this on my 18" wsm.
