The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.

Treat Yourself!!
Flawless pair of boots!! I am a regular size nine and ordered size 8 1/2 because the price was so much cheaper. Luckily, the 8 1/2 fit perfectly. I think they run a little tiny bit big.The leather is absolutely gorgeous. It is very thick and I expect the boots to last longer than me! They are heavy due to the solid construction. My calves are average to a little larger than average and the shaft fit me perfectly. No stretching needed!! The heel cup is a little big but it didn't bother me.So I put them on right out of the box and didn't take them off until the end of a very busy day. My feet felt great. No discomfort whatsoever. I have been very lucky with fit, I have 6 pair of Frye's and they are all very comfortable.I like the heel height. It is just right, not too tall. And I like the shaft height. It lands a few inches below my knee. I think the style is very versatile. Stylish, feminine and edgy at the same time. Treat yourself!!

Weird fit.
I'm giving these three stars because the quality really seems top notch. I think that they are probably well made boots. However, I can't really attest to that since they are huge! I ordered a 9.5, and that is the size that I generally wear. The boots were AT LEAST a full size too large. Furthermore, I don't have particularly large calves, but I couldn't even pull the boot up all the way on my left leg because the calf was too small. It wouldn't budge! I may have resorted to a boot stretcher or some other such product had the shoe fit anyway. Suffice it to say, I returned them. I will try a different style in a different size. And I will say that the return process has been super easy so far.

I LOVE These Boots!
These are my go to boots when I know I'm going to be putting in a lot of walking! The are comfortable, and very stylish...I get ton's of complements on them! When I first put them on I was worried they were going to be tight, but with each wear they have molded to my foot perfectly...I can wear boot socks with them, and it's more than fine all day long! This is my second pair of Frye's and I have to say I reach for these more often than I do my first pair (Strappy Jane) but both are far an above the quality of any other boot I have bought in the past...I know both styles will last a lifetime....and there fore I don't mind the cost investment...I'm a firm believer in "You get what you pay for"....these boots will not let you down...I bought them in black and I'm extremely happy I got them in the15R height as I prefer a taller boot...but if you have larger calfs they might be too snug, and you'd be better with a 12R....either way...you are gonna love 'em!

Very narrow
I'm so disappointed. I've wanted these boots for years now and finally decided to order them and they are too narrow. I read through all the reviews and everyone comments ordering a smaller size that they are made big but I still ordered my regular size and couldn't get them on. Tried going up a half size and I can get them on but very uncomfortable. I've never wore anything but an 8 and my foot is not wide by no means.

Finally Fulfilling My Frye Fantasy
This boot is gorgeous! I've wanted a pair of black Frye harness boots for years but couldn't justify the price. When I saw these on sale for almost 50% off price, I couldn't resist - Happy Birthday to me! I ordered the charcoal, which is more of a dark gray than black. I didn't love the dark gray at first because my mind was set on black but now I can't stop admiring the color, cut, and general coolness of these boots. The 6.5 fits well, not too snug or too loose in the foot bed. I have a narrow foot, so this boot feels comfortable to me. However, the shaft is rather snug with only leggings, tights, and slim cut jeans fitting inside the boot. I can't imagine trying to tuck jeans into these boots. I'm not a big fan of thick socks with boots (other than winter boots) and wear cotton crew socks - still enough room to wiggle toes. The boots look killer with a dress and tights/leggings. If you have a wide foot or a muscular calf, you might want to stay away from this make and explore another option. Some of the reviews I read recommended to order a half size down; I ordered my regular size 6.5; I wouldn't be able to wear a half size smaller in the toes or calf, so if you are looking to buy these boots, be sure to read all of the reviews - everyone is different. These boots were out of the box wearable and I expect they will become more comfortable as time passes. One thing I did notice was that there is a lot of room around the ankles. After wearing them, I insert a cowboy boot shaper that I had in my closet to keep the shaft straight so it doesn't wrinkle up and rub the ankles. I hope these boots live up to the Frye reputation.

My new favorite boots!
Love, Love, Love these boots! I know that some might be a little wary to purchase a pair of Frye boots because of the price, but in my experience, they are worth every penny. These are my 3rd pair of Frye's and my favorite..for now. They are thick and stand up on their own I appreciate the fact that they do not collapse around the ankle like other tall boots tend to do. They are rather comfy after breaking them in, I think it took about 3 days of wearing them for that to happen. They are not for people with wide calves although they do stretch a little when work with layers tucked into them. As will all Frye boots, order a 1/2 size down from your normal shoe size. If they feel a little snug at first just wear them with thick socks for a day and they will fit like a glove.

Sorry I can't wear these cool boots!
I really wanted to like these cool boots! So excited when they were delivered. I usually wear a size 9, 8 1/2 fit was fine. I wore them for an hour around the house with knee high socks, and decided I couldn't do the breaking-in thing. My pinkie toes were rubbed raw, and my left ankle bone was hurting terribly, I believe from the side seam rubbing on it. I have foot trouble anyway, and am a wimp. Just couldn't see how they would ever be comfortable.
