It can cut through brittle or hard surfaces such as, marble, glass, granite, carbide, tile or tough finishes. This coated abrasive has finer grits that are specifically suited for finishing on various surfaces and tough metals. Aluminum Oxide Color: Brownish Red Grit sizes: 60, 80, 100 & 120 It has two variants - open and closed coat. The Open coat does not permit loading due to thinning out of the grains from the backing material. It is the most commonly used abrasive on the market today for all wood sanding applications. Its versatility allows for multiple uses, ranging from stock removal to finishing. Zirconia Alumina Color: Blue Grit sizes: 40 & 80 Also known as zirconium, and features a sharp synthetic abrasive that is mostly suited for stock removal applications. Due to its tough structure, it requires heavier pressure to break down self-sharpening grains. It is ideal for planning hard woods and grinding ferrous and non-ferrous metals. On tough applications, it can last 5 times longer than aluminum oxide.
