Fantastic seller
I have owned 2 other mandolins, which I paid alot for, so comparing this mandolin to those would be unfair. So in fairness, I have to say that this mandolin is well worth the money. However... it may need a little fine tuning, a lighter set of strings and perhaps a little shave on the bridge. That's the worst I can say!!!!Overall it's a decent little instrument, the pickup sounds pretty good running through an amp, and the seller is amazing (I received my mandolin quickly) recommend

An excellent instrument for the money.
Nearly 5 stars.Value for money definitely 5 stars. The main problem is that this should make an excellent beginners mandolin, however, tuning it resulted in one of the E strings coming off because the loop had unravelled. This should have been easy to fix, but the reason why the other string had been a problem was the tailpiece that required surgery before a string could be properly attached. This problem must have been noticed when being assembled. I accept that this is hopefully a rare occurrence since it hasn't been mentioned before, but it is something that could have resulted in a beginner giving up or spoiling a present. On a positive note the bridge was simple to position and intonation is as good as mandolins costing a lot more. The machine heads are obviously not the worlds best, but will allow the instrument to be tuned and hold tune well. The user has to be prepared to be firm when tuning some of the strings. There is no truss rod for adjusting the neck, but in the case of my mandolin the neck was fine anyway. The nut may be slightly high, but the bridge on minimum height gives good action over most of the neck, I have seen worse on more expensive instruments. The standard of construction is excellent. The supplied strings are acceptable and it certainly doesn't sound too bad at all.If the illustration shows it with a gig bag and the manufacturers description further down the page says one is included - one should be included or change the information.Once set up it is fine, just the need for some metal working on the tailpiece before you could properly attach all 8 strings, which may well have been a one off.

Not for a beginner or if you lack experience setting up/repairing fretted instruments.
I bought this from Amazon Warehouse as I have experience repairing fretted instruments and it was a good price. This mandolin is not suitable for a beginner or if you lack experience setting up/repairing fretted instruments. The mandolin I received required several hours of setting up/repair work before it became playable. The pickup was too far away from the strings. The volume and tone potentiometers were loose and rotating with the knobs. There is no output to the amplifier - I've yet to check/repair/replace the electrical components. The machine heads were not seated properly. Two of the strings were not wound on the machine heads properly. The bridge was an inch away from its required position. The fret ends were very sharp and required filing. Several frets needed to be levelled because of fret buzz.I had to scrape glue off the fingerboard and treat it with lemon oil as it was very dry.I had to file the nut slots so the fretted notes at the first/second frets were not sharp.*UPDATE*I checked the electrical components and they were well soldered and working. At its highest setting, the pickup was still too far away from the strings to pick up vibrations. I had to remove the springs under the pickup for it to get closer to the strings, but it needs to be higher still. It does pickup the string vibrations now.

Don't waste your money
Cheap mandolin. Not worth the money paid. String broke on first tuning but that happens. I would have thought the fretboard should either be flat or convex radius not concave. Frets not crowned so dead frets everywhere. Not great sounding either.
