WEN 7.25-Inch Track Saw, Variable Speed (CT1274), Corded Electric

I've been fighting with my circular saw using a guide to do long rips and accurate cross cuts. I don't have a table saw yet and definitely didn't have the budget for a Makita or Festool track saw so I decided to give this Wen a try. First off, I am VERY happy I went with the 7.25" blade. Not only does it allow for deeper 45 degree cuts but it also has the variable speed setting. I quickly replaced the blade. It's not great. Got a Diablo blade and threw the Wen blade into a blade bin just in case I ever need it in a pinch. The Wen blade left a lot to be desired. That said, I'd probably replace a Festool blade too. I will say I didn't get the Wen tracks. I just didn't like what I saw so I went with the PowerTec tracks which aren't much more and seem to be a much better build. Quick story about the durability of this saw: I had 2 saw horses set up with rigid foam on top as my sacrificial surface. I didn't consider how far the foam was overhanging the sides of the saw horses and when I set the saw on the side edge of the foam the foam (that I have ripped into two manageable pieces) teetered over a bit and it was just enough for the track saw to fall and come crashing down on my concrete floor. The saw handle broke but not all the way. It was sort hanging on by a flap of rubber. Some JB Weld fixed that right up and made it as strong as ever. However, the surprising part despite the gnarly fall and tumble of the saw, IT STILL CUTS SQUARE! Absolutely blown away by the durability and precision of this saw. Sure, ultimately I'd love to get a Festool track saw down the road (who wouldn't??) but until I can justify such an expensive purchase this Wen track saw is doing a damn fine job. So far all of the inaccurate cuts I've made are user error because I trusted a factory edge of my MDF/Plywood. So, pro tip if you're new to track saws: ALWAYS create a new edge as a reference for your square/track because where it might seem square it could actually be very off. So if you cut a few millimeters off one edge and use that to line up the track with a square you'll have a very good result!

Cuts great! As a weekend warrior, it is perfect for how much I use it. This punches above its price tag, great quality for price. Replaced the included blade right away (included one is 40T). Wen makes two different track saws, I liked this one because it comes with the more standard 7 1/4” blade and has a bit more power. Dust collection can be improved (although not great) by taping over blade replacement access hole. It is very loud. The motor and cutting seem top quality but they definitely saved money on the knobs, they feel like thin very cheap plastic. Knobs probably won’t survive a drop. Plenty of adjustment and easy to use.

I needed something to help make an angled cut on some long boards and, since I'd been wanting a track saw, I figured this one wouldn't break the bank. Finally got to try it out today and am impressed. I can't compare it to any other track saw because this is the first one I've used, but it had plenty of power, slid on the track easily, and delivered nice, clean cuts with the stock blade. The saw I got differs from the pics. The two track adjustment knobs are now low-profile. The track lock is a slide, and there is no anti-kickback knob. I really like the soft start feature., but the blade/plunge lock button is pretty stiff. Thankfully once you get the saw running and plunged, you can let go of it. I don't know how the durability will be, but you my occasional hobbyist needs, it works great, and the price is hard to beat!

for a part time remodel guy it's great. You can tell when you use it that it's not the greatest saw ever built, it has some extra vibration and kind of flimsy parts, but unless you need the very best this thing works just fine. It cuts well enough. I bought the track also and its pretty good, the rubber isn't on great, but its ok. You can spend more and get a better track saw system but why.

I used the saw to remove some water damaged 3/4 solid maple flooring in my home. With a 60 tooth Diable blade it cut through the maple like butter. Quality of cuts was excellent with no tear out on top edge. I also used the 40 tooth blade that came with the saw to cut up and install about 12 sheets of 3/4 inch OSB subfloor. Again, flawless cuts. I used a Powertec 110" track guide with this saw, so can't comment on qualit of the Wen guide track. For the price you could use it on a single project and get most of your money back selling it used, but you are gonna want to keep it, trust me.

It’s a great track saw for the money. I have Dewalt, Ryobi, Triton and Delta power tools and the Wen is not built like those. However, it was a few hundred dollars less than a name brand track saw. I purchased this to cut plywood for a cabinet project and the saw did not disappoint. Set up was easy and fast and cuts were spot on. I own a few other Wen tools and have never been disappointed with their quality and accuracy.

Update: totally failed at 1yr 7mo. Was cutting a sheet of plywood length wise at needed to change my body position for a better grip. Tried to restart saw and nothing. Checked everything but couldn’t get it to run. Now in the very slow process of getting it fixed under the two year warranty. So far Customer Service is very unresponsive. I might have to open up the saw and figure out the problem and fix it myself. Track saws have become “standard equipment “ in many woodworking shops. You can spend a little, or you can sell a kidney and get a premium brand. After watching several reviews on YouTube, I opted to keep my kidneys and buy this Wen 7.25 inch saw and tracks. It is easy to set up and change depth/tilt for most of my typical cuts. I use this primarily to break down full 4x8 sheet goods, which are precarious and downright dangerous activities on a table saw. Dust collection wasn’t great until I put a pice of duct tape over the side opening of the blade guard. I also opted for a higher tooth count blade to give me a finer cut edge. The tracks are really solid, and actually compatible with several other brand saws. The plunge cutting action is smooth, and there seems to be plenty of power for plywood. I have not had the opportunity to try it on thick hardwood, but with an Adirondack chair project dead ahead, I’m going to see white oak in my future. I am not a professional cabinet maker, only a hobby enthusiast, so this is all the saw I need.

I read many reviews and I never give any reviews. This product is awesome. I’m a beginner and for people who just wanna use it for hobbies around the house for cutting long pieces of wood. It is fantastic. It’s smooth. It’s fast. The dust is minimal everything on the machine works great, so I’m very satisfied and shocked how inexpensive it is compared to all the other brands. The track itself is fantastic too. It doesn’t move. It’s sturdy and tracks or glides so easily and the tracks saw clamps were are great. I have had no problems with this product

I considered more expensive saws, but after checking out multiple reviews of the Wen I decided to try it. I use it occasionally and it has performed very well. I use Makita tracks and the fit is good. Dust collection with a hose is decent, and certainly much better than a standard circular saw.
