Great compass for beginners, good for kids or adults beginning to navigate
These are pretty cool compasses. They are not the highest quality in the world. It looks like a reproduction of a US military style lensatic compass. Made with modern plastics. But still riveted together in the factory like compasses have been done for 60 years. The compass comes in many colors. For boys or girls. For camping or survival. You get two for 10 dollars and considering how much they are costing they come packed with tools. Each compass has over 15 features providing priceless tools at your disposal. A great beginners compass that you can train wit, learn to use, test and hard use in the field and not be concerned with losing or breaking it, because they came at a bargain. The come wrapped in bubble wrap, necklace already attached and a small user manual giving you instructions on some of the more important and useful features.Comes with luminous sighting dots, sighting wire, case cover for extra protection, sighting grooves, magnifying lenses, thum loop, beveled rotational ring, glow in the dark arrows, indicators and sighting dots, and many other useful features. So far the compass have been working great. For the price they really feel surprisingly high quality in construction and materials, and would be a great first compass packed full of features. I recommend you give them a try. And they'd be great for a scout, as a present or for any other occasion.

Pretty decent compasses for light use
This is a great set of compasses for kids to learn land navigation. Just know that this is a kids' light use model.Overall, for the price point and for what this is, it's really pretty good. The accuracy is dead on, the quality is solid and it doesn't feel like a kids' toy that will break in a few uses. It feels like a good learning tool for kids.In terms of the lens and sighting wire setup, these are both solid. I'm able to get a reading quickly, figure out direction of travel and get moving. For an adult, you will have an issue with the thumb ring. I found that it was too small for my thumb to fit through. I'm a 6 ft tall male with average sized thumbs and this doesn't let my thumb slide through past the first knuckle. It's just not wide enough. For a kid, it'll be fine. The bright green color will be good to help kids not lose this in the leaves if they put it down. The ring moves around the bezel very freely with little resistance - a little too freely compared to upper end models. What this means is that as you get your bearing and look at your direction of travel, you'll have to be careful that you get your reading quickly as a small touch of the lens will knock it out of whack and you'll have to retake your reading. This is not a dealbreaker but something to know. The body is made of harder plastic that seems thick enough to protect it from a light closed drop. The dial is also plastic, but not as strong feeling.Overall, these compasses work well and will be great for a kid learning to navigate through the outdoors. And if they happen to break one, they'll have another.

starter tool to learn on, not survive with
Got these for my young scouts. Good a fit for those who want to develop a new skill, I would not rely on these as a real survival tool. They are generally accurate, however the two items DO point in slightly different northerly directions, meaning one or both are not 100% correct. Likely fine when out on a basic scouting trip with 8 other compasses in patrol.I am by no means an orienteering master, but I did train orienteering in ROTC doing both day and night orienteering courses. Being off even a small amount, especially at night, can mean you will be majorly off course versus expectations.

Perfect, if you WANT to never find your way. Disappointing.
The media could not be loaded. Â As an avid hiker and outdoor enthusiast, I was excited to try out the Lensatic Compass Hiking Backpacking Compass for my adventures. However, I must say that my experience with these compasses has been disappointing and I cannot recommend them as a reliable survival tool. The first set of compasses I received had issues with polarity. True North was not being detected correctly, and the compasses were sending me in the wrong direction, more towards the east. I noticed that if I put the two compasses that came in the package together near each other, they would dial to North correctly. This made me realize that the compasses had lost their polarity, which was a major concern.I contacted the seller and had the compasses exchanged for a new set. Unfortunately, the new set had the same issue. Even though I appreciate the customer service, the fact that two sets of compasses had the same problem is concerning. As a survival tool, accuracy and reliability are crucial, and I cannot trust these compasses to provide me with accurate readings in the field. While these compasses may be suitable for basic map reading or orienteering activities, I cannot recommend them for serious outdoor adventures or survival situations. It's essential to have a reliable compass that can accurately guide you in the right direction, and unfortunately, these compasses fall short in that aspect. I will be looking for a more reliable option for my future outdoor adventures.
