Works like a champ!
Update: I installed this cap 7 1/2 years ago. It has been removed every year for the chimney to be swept. A couple of years ago I had to take it down and wire brush inside and out to remove creosote deposits. I'd waited too long to do this and it had been diminishing the draft. Anyway, the cap still looks and works great. It has endured 55mph wind gusts with no problem. Assuming they still make them the way they did in 2013, it's a great product! My chimney is about 40 yr old and has an oddball tile size @ 8 1/2 x 18. Looked everywhere for that size cap with no luck. Found this adjustable cap and figured it should work........but was expecting to have to modify it in some way. Nope! Worked like a charm right out of the box! The adjustment feature is simple and foolproof with NO MODIFICATION REQUIRED. The entire cap assembly sits directly on top of the chimney tile. The 4 installation clamps fit in slots in the cap assembly and are adjusted in or out as necessary to fit the tile. Each clamp is attached to the tile by a single pointed screw that kind of "digs into" the tile. That's all that's required! The cap mounting is quite secure. I'd expect it will be there after anything short of a tornado. Also, the cap may be easily removed. Loosen the 4 clamp screws and the entire cap will lift off for chimney cleaning. I do have one minor gripe. HY-C offers many cap sizes made from stainless steel, but apparently not this one. Sure would have liked to have it in stainless.

Chimney Caps are easy install & look great
We had a small leak in our two Chimney's that are 35+ years old. After I sealed the edges around the flue with DRYLOK 30507 Masonry Crack Filler, put a fresh 2 coats of CHIMNEY RX Brush-able Chimney Crown Repair, then sealing the bricks on the side with CHIMNEY RX Masonry Chimney Water Repellent, the last step was to upgrade our Chimney Caps.It only took less than an half hour to get these beautiful new Chimney caps installed. One thing worth noting is the thickness of the flue edge. Ours had two different sizes, one was 1.25" and the other 1.5". See the 2nd picture where you see I had to bend out the U Clamp a little to fit the 1.5" flue. This made zero cap between the U Clamp and the flue edge so the supplied screws which are sheet metal screws became unusable given there was no room for the screw to start grabbing into the U Clamp. So I replaced the 8 screws with Masonry screws, pre-drilled the holes and secured the new caps easily. Our odd size flue (15.5 x 11.75) was hard to find a cap that would fit. This adjustable cap worked great and now we're ready to have some roasting fires this fall and winter.**Update**Just a few weeks after getting this project done, Fall weather came storming in with wind gusts over 30 MPH and torrential down pours. Happy to report we had no leaks and the Chimney Caps stayed on nice and tight!!

It's sad that this is US quality
You get what you pay for. It's sad that this is US quality, but it it a lot cheaper than other models. The bottom isn't flat/level, so you have to force it down as you tighten each side to keep it from looking all janky, which then makes it a 2 person job. Granted it's hard to see from the ground, but I still didn't want them (I Have two chimneys) to look all crooked and weird. Also, the mounting screws should just be bolts that would clamp onto the exhaust tile. Instead they are sharp screws, so be very careful and tighten slowly because you are literally drilling into the clay tile and it cracks.

Easy to install does its job well and looks Great!
Being in a high wind area and having a fireplace we love to use is not a good combination when it comes to fire safety. It's been a long time coming but I finally got smart and bought this great chimney cover. It was surprisingly easy to install and to see how secure the device is was heartening. Not only does it protect from sparks but has actually added to the look of our house (not that the house is bad looking! LOL). But the device adds a snap to the chimney and we're happy with that. Since installing ours, our two neighbors bought one also. We're looking good and are much safer for it. Thanks! Great product

Screws didn't work
Looks pretty good. Main complaint is the cheap sheet metal & screws used to attach it. Instructions and other pictures made it look like threaded machine screws... not so. The screws are used to firmly attach the cover to the chimney, but they don't fit snugly though the holes in the cover. And, even worse, if the chimney masonry is thick, the screws don't work at all -- there's no room for the screw threads to catch in the hole. Could not use them at all. So the cover is on the chimney, and while I don't think it will fly off in a windstorm, it may rattle.

Great chimney cap but needs different hardware
Worked perfect! But I gave it 4 stars because it was either missing screws or they sent the wrong screws with a sharp tip instead of a flat tip so you dont damage the chimney.

Easy to install, wrong screw as many other reviews
Solid product, very light and easy to adjust and install. However, the screws they provided really should have been flat headed ones. The ones they provided can damage the chimney. I took a file and filed them flat.

Very disappointed
Received this item as was very disappointed with the quality. The welds weren’t done correctly so we had to repair. There were no screws included and the instructions indicated that the holes were threaded. They were not. Luckily we had the tools to correct all the problems with this product. If we had time, we would have returned but we were under a time crunch. Sad that the quality was soooooo poor.
