Can I use your outdoor 19" propane gas pit on a wooden deck with a fire proof pad under it?

The fire pit does not get warm on the bottom when using it. I would think you can use it on a wood deck with a nonflammable mat under it. We have been using ours in the driveway just to be safe.

there were 5 adults and 2 children in our 10 x 10 screen tent that we had tarped up on all four sides. it got down to 18 degrees before it got too cold. a normal summer night/morning in the big horn mountains in wyoming gets to the mid 40's and our group sits around it to keep warm.
