Close but no cigar!
Leader loops to joint leader to fly line - with a heat shrink tube for security - only the heat shrink doesn't shrink! Luckily I have a box of heat shrink tubing in the garage so that wasn't a show stopper. Also of note - when you are playing a fish the tension on the tippet/leader will cause the braided loop to stretch, this reduces the internal diameter to constrict and grip your fly line...... All good - the braided loop won't slip under those conditions. However, bumping the rear of the braided section against your rod rings on retrieve will cause the braided tube to relax, opening up its internal diameter so it can slip off. I've ended up securing the braid onto the fly line with both shrink tube and a dab of thin superglue. So far so good but I'll be checking security every trip
